The Browns, who have yet to hire a defensive line coach, have been given permission to interview Bills defensive line coach Anthony Weaver, BuffaloBills.com reported on Tuesday.

Weaver has worked with and played for new Browns coach Mike Pettine for much of his NFL career. Weaver was the Jets’ assistant defensive line coach in 2012 when Pettine was defensive coordinator on Rex Ryan’s staff. Pettine joined the Bills as defensive coordinator in 2013, and Weaver also joined the Buffalo coaching staff, moving up to D-line coach.

Weaver, 33, was a Ravens defensive lineman from 2002 through 2008, notching 257 tackles and 15.5 sacks.

As time goes by, Banner and Lombardi have to take Nobodies because this situation and front office is seen as toxic.

Can Cleveland repay buffalo by forfeiting their game in 2014? Giving them 4 assistants plus pettine. Unheard of.

I find it to be a compliment for someone to want what you have…but this is getting rediculous

Guys, Schwartz is likely going to replace these coaches anyway. If anything Cleveland is helping them out by giving them work this late in the hiring season.

Like howie said.. Schwartz is going to want to bring in his own guys, that’s normal when a new coach or coordinator comes in.

Great hires 3stooges. You clowns are a joke! Looks like the Browns wont get my time of day just like the Indians did when Discount Dolan, and havent looked back.

Some funny comments, but people the bills have a new DC who’s staff will likely be hired in with him for the most part. You bring in your people to execute your plan. Don’t you think Schwartz wants to bring in his people who will be replaced by Detroit’s new DC.

Okay Schwartz. Your move. Get yer azz in gear and hire a staff already.

You clowns that are trying to put a negative spin on this hire have short memories and don’t know much about football. When Pettine coached the Jets, their defends was top 5 no matter what their record was. Last year they struggled when he left and Buffalo stepped up. The Browns were a top 10 last year already, ask Seattle and San Francisco how they got there. Hire Shannahan and we compete.
