Matt Prater’s more worried about the wind than his cold

Super Bowl Football AP

Broncos kicker Matt Prater was back on his feet after a bout with a virus that left him reeling last week, but it wasn’t the cold he was worried about.

It was the wind.

Prater said he tries to not think about things beyond his control, but admits the possibility of windy conditions is more of a concern at MetLife Stadium than the well-publicized frigid temperatures.

“You know me, I’m not a huge thinker about too much,” Prater said. “It’s just one of those things where I think no matter what if you hit the ball well it’s going to go straight and it’s going to go far. I’m not worried about it too much. I don’t think it’s going to be too windy, if anything the winds affects it more than the cold. As long as it’s not too windy, I think we’ll be fine to get the touchbacks, hopefully limit their return game and I know Britt [punter Britton Colquitt] is going to hang it up there well.”

Prater’s kicked in some wintry conditions in the past, and has the kind of leg strength that can negate normal conditions, at any altitude.

To be fair, Matt Prater did in fact set an NFL record for field goals against the Titans, when the temp was in the teens…He’s not worried about the cold.

    Socrates? Plato? Aristotle?
    Nope… just Matt Prater.

Seattle could force Denver to throw short passes with no YAC, and they could keep Denver out of the end zone, and basically Denver could just move the ball between the 20’s, and Prater could wind up kicking 7 or 8 FG’s and be the MVP if Seattle can’t score some points.
