Patriots add Brendan Daly as defensive assistant

The Patriots have added some help for their defensive staff, announcing that Brendan Daly has been hired as a defensive assistant coach.

Daly has eight years of NFL experience, working with defensive linemen for the Vikings and the Rams.

The former Drake tight end has 17 years of coaching experience.

The Patriots are retooling their staff after the departure of linebackers coach Pepper Johnson last week.
