Broncos turn down volume at practice

The Broncos held their first full practice of Super Bowl week on Wednesday and, as usual, there were speakers set up around the practice field to simulate crowd noise during the game.

There was one difference between Wednesday’s work at the Jets facility in Florham Park, New Jersey and other practices for games outside of Denver, however. Broncos coach John Fox said that the sound from the speakers was normally five times louder, but things were toned down this week based on Fox’s experiences during previous Super Bowl trips with the Panthers and Giants.

“It’s not an away game,” Fox said, via the pool report prepared by Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “The ones I’ve been to haven’t been too loud. So we just kind of practice with what we think we’re going to get.”

Only one member of the Broncos sat out of the easy listening practice. Defensive tackle Sione Fua was out with a calf injury, but everyone else on the roster, including kicker Matt Prater (illness), practiced in full for Denver.
