Jaguars owner Shad Khan made clear what seemed apparent to anyone who’s been watching his team the last few seasons.
Khan confirmed to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union the team’s draft plans were obvious.
“Everybody knows we’re going to draft a quarterback — maybe two,” Khan said.
The Jaguars have made reassuring noises about bringing back veteran Chad Henne, who understands that he’d be competing with a rookie next year if he came back. If they draft two, that would leave little room for Blaine Gabbert, forcing them to admit the previous administrations horrible mistake.
The Jaguars have the third overall pick, but there’s a lot of competition for the top passers.
The Texans, picking first overall, obviously need one. The Rams, picking second, might not, but could auction the pick to the highest bidder. The Browns (fourth) and Raiders (fifth) could also use one, creating some drama as teams jockey for the guy they hope can lead their franchise.
