Could the weather break just right for Super Bowl XLVIII?

Via WeatherUnderground.com, the updated forecast for Sunday evening in East Rutherford, New Jersey calls for a 10 percent chance of precipitation around game time at MetLife Stadium. However, a fall-like temperature of 44 degrees is expected, as are winds of eight mph.

The Super Bowl, which pits the AFC-champion Broncos against the NFC-champion Seahawks, will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday night.

According to Weather Underground and the National Weather Service, the odds of precipitation will increase throughout Sunday night in the East Rutherford / New York area, and snow is possible Monday morning.

In short, the weather picture for Super Bowl XLVIII could be quite a bit different if the game were played at 6:30 a.m. Monday morning as opposed to 6:30 p.m. Sunday night.

As always with weather, this is all subject to change. And we’ll keep an eye on it.

  1. Yes lets add drama with the weather. It will be a little cold, that is it. No excuses, play ball.

  2. Yeah, NY is such a terrible place for the Super Bowl. It might get snowy and icy. I mean, we should have it in a hot weather state like Texas so that theres NO CHANCE that there would be ice on the roads… oh wait…

  3. Wow. Thank God they aren’t playing the Super Bowl at 6:30 am on a Monday morning…That could have been a disaster.

  4. this will put more pressure on manning now that the weather will be good. if it was terrible, he couldve played with no pressure knowing people would use the bad weather excuse for him if he lost. now he has no excuse

  5. 45-55 degrees and dry is PERFECT football weather.
I just hope the rain stays away. That will affect the game more than the predicted 44 degrees.

  6. All these Denver fans I have a serious question. You scored 2 TDs and had to kick 4 FGs vs a mediocre injury riddled New England D at home, Im expected to believe you can score much against the best D in football

  7. So the prognasticators spent a week talking about how Manning will struggle in the bitter cold….Now they are trying to drum up business about warm weather….really?

here are the facts ya’ll Manning earned his paycheck shredding D’s this year, and he will do it again sunday.

legion of points…… beats legion of bum

  8. When you say Seattle has the worst offense you measure by the wrong factors. Seattle has created the perfect match to it’s superb defense. The aims and goals of the offense are different than other teams. To Seattle, with any lead, we enter a period where the goal becomes moving the clock and ending the game. It does not matter if we have the ball or the opposition, an equal goal to scoreing points is ending the game asap. As long as we can stop them, we don’t take risks. We would rather give them the ball, then give them an easy score. The clock moves regardless of who has the ball. As long as we maintain the lead, the clock movement is more important than anything else. If we play some extra defense in the process the clock still moves. Thus, many times you will see us win a game by a sizeable margin, but lose the statistical battle. This strategy is new. You can only evaluate our offense when it is trying to score. You cannot evaluate for a whole game because it is not doing what you are measuring. Go Seahawks!!

  9. The weather looks to favor the Hawks with their Beast Mode ground and pound style of play. Peyton will struggle with the Nascar unit coming at him from every angle as he can’t run to save his life. And if it’s freezing during game time his three step back quick release will be a no go as his receivers will not create enough separation on the frozen tundra with the Hawks’ speedy linebackers and secondary unit. So, i feel the weather will play a major factor in the Hawks win. Not saying it’s going to be a blowout but it won’t be close.

    Seahawks 30

    Broncos 17

    GO HAWKS!! …3elieve RW3 …CO MVP …Beast Mode

  10. Denver’s receivers is gonna be a test for the Seahawks. Everyone keeps thinking because the Saints have a similar offense that this is gonna be a walk in the park. Saints offense was overrated this year, Denver’s receivers are far superior.
