The Chiefs are reportedly set to sign a Canadian Football League receiver with a proven track record of production.

According to TSN.ca and the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs are expected to sign former Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Weston Dressler. Via Arrowhead Pride, Sportsnet.ca also reports that a deal between Dressler and the Chiefs is likely.

Dressler, 28, hauled in 70 passes for 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns for Grey Cup-champion Saskatchewan in 2013.

A University of North Dakota product, the 5-foot-7, 179-pound Dressler has exceeded 1,000 yards receiving in 5-of-6 CFL seasons.

The Roughriders released Dressler this week so he could pursue an NFL career.

Good for the Roughriders to release Dressler and let him follow his NFL dream. Hopefully it works out for him, but if not, he will be welcomed back with open arms in the CFL.

I live in Saskatchewan so have heard blowhard Rider fans talk this guy up for years. Seen a few of his games. He looks okay on a cfl field(has a lot more room) But in all actuality, he is just too small to be an nfl WR.

Brandon Browner and Cameron Wake really lead a lot of NFL teams to look to our friends up north for held.

I say why not? You’ve got a lot of players who have proven their worth against professional competition playing in Canada, and you just might get someone who works out well in the NFL.

He can add 10 pounds and play a Welker type of role

Class organization for letting him walk… will help to attract future top flight talent…

Best of luck to the kid.. has lots of playing time up for grabs in a potent offense for someone to make some plays after the catch.

Would be nice to see Jenkins making a leap after full off-season with the club too!

Maybe as a punt/kick returner type?
