Seahawks rubbing it in, up 22-0 after pick six

Peyton Manning AP

Someone on the Denver sideline needs to start looking for the light switch.

Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith just intercepted a Peyton Manning pass and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown, giving the Seahawks a 22-0 lead in the second quarter.

Cliff Avril was hammering Manning as he threw, causing him to throw a duck that landed safely in the pond of Smith’s hands.

It was another dreadful mistake in a game full of problems great and small for the Broncos.

A tripping penalty on Zane Beadles (who went full Jim Cantore) seemed to stall an otherwise promising drive, the first time all night they had anything approaching offensive rhythm.

  13. meatcarroll says: Feb 2, 2014 7:50 PM

How about you give some credit to the Seahawks? They’re doing what no one else could do, pressuring Manning heavily with only the front four allowing everyone else to flood the field with suffocating coverage.

  14. pacnw66 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:50 PM

It appears Denver thought they had an easy win. Pride always comes before the fall.

  15. fanofevilempire says: Feb 2, 2014 7:50 PM

maybe Peyton shouldn’t be changing the freakin plays.

  16. briscocountyjr says: Feb 2, 2014 7:50 PM

Between now and the end of the 3rd qtr is where we will see the difference between manning and other QBs and the denver offense.

  17. allidoiswin55 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:51 PM

Seattle gets the ball second half also.. Manning will get his yards but it’s difficult to score against Seattle . Best secondary he’s ever played in his career

  18. chris3141084 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:51 PM

I feel like he’s figured them out on the most part, but Seattle is being their usual opportunistic self.

Seahawk fans have been confident all week. This defense is special, all those trying to clown Harvin. The guy is a game changer and you know nothing of football. go hawks

  21. trollhammer20 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:55 PM

Lot of time left to play yet.

But if the game ended right now, Cliff Avril is the MVP.

  22. coffeeblack95616 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:57 PM

Stupid to go on 4th instead of get some points. Idiot Fox blows another call. At least 3 points would be a morale boost. Now going in at half with a fat 0.

  23. allidoiswin55 says: Feb 2, 2014 7:57 PM

Wow that 4th down was a slip away by Thurmond III as being another pick 6 . This game isn’t over Denver has too much offense but it’s clear they are completely overwhelmed..

This is exactly what Seattle did to Denver preseason when it was starters vs starters for most of the first half . Seattles defense is historically one of the best statistically of all time against the pass . Did so with all the rules against them .

Also the broncos have the same amount of PED suspensions the Seahawks this year .. Haters ?

  24. gquesen says: Feb 2, 2014 7:57 PM

Where are all of the Bronco fans predicting Manning would shred Sherman and the Seahawks? You haters just couldn’t help yourselves two weeks ago.

  25. strokinmyego says: Feb 2, 2014 7:57 PM

Man seeing the Seahawks play makes me kind of happy the Patriots didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. There’s no way they would beat Seattle with three smurfs as their top receivers.

I suppose they couldn’t have done worse than Denver, but still.

  26. bigdaddydooko says: Feb 2, 2014 7:58 PM

    Broncos….major Super Bowl fail.

No, Denver knew the deal. It was all the know-nothing fans that thought it would be an easy Broncos win.

  30. brazzz01 says: Feb 2, 2014 8:06 PM

I will take a great defense over a great QB… every time.

  31. johnkristian says: Feb 2, 2014 8:07 PM

Maaaan i dont think broncos has it in them. They are not playing as a team

  33. axespray says: Feb 2, 2014 8:24 PM

But…but – Bob McGinn said signing a bunch of washed up old players pays off and that the broncos are the standard!?!?!

Seattle with youth and speed are straight up stomping a mud-hole on them donkeys.

  34. dynastyposeiden says: Feb 2, 2014 8:26 PM

lol at title of this thread … since peyton the stat padder piled tons of need less stats chasing records against helpless teams … and this team is now running it up in the 1st half by making him look like a wannabe…. laughable

  35. mistrezzrachael says: Feb 2, 2014 8:26 PM

Manning will NEVER….be ranked as one of the great QB’s of alltime with Montana, Elway,, Brady.

He’s playing with fear, and happy feet. Give Seahawks Credit for making him…PANIC.

  40. jakenina10 says: Feb 2, 2014 9:21 PM

Manning is terrible.. I used to be a fan until now. Best qb ever? Ha funny.. Don’t you have to be clutch to do that?

  41. alligatorsnapper says: Feb 2, 2014 10:21 PM

Seattle beat down Denver in practically every aspect of the game. It was just not Manning who fell in this game, it was the Denver defense, Denver special teams, enough blame to go around, but primarily it was the speed and fervor of the Seattle team. They were focused and ready. They gave their all on the field and it showed them to be the better team in practically every way.

    Congrats to Seattle!
