In their 43-8 victory against the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday night, the Seahawks set a couple of records that will not be easy to top.
According to the NFL and league statistician Elias Sports Bureau, the Seahawks led for a Super Bowl-record 59 minutes and 48 seconds in Sunday’s rout at MetLife Stadium. Moreover, the Seahawks also set a record by scoring 12 seconds into the game. An errant snap led to safety, giving Seattle a 2-0 lead, one it never relinquished en route to the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl victory.
The Broncos’ Super Bowl loss was their fifth in franchise history, which is a new game record.
In the loss, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning set a Super Bowl record with 34 completions, while Broncos’ wideout Demaryius Thomas’ 13 catches were also a game record. Denver’s 34 team completions are also a new Super Bowl standard.
