Eagles sign a wide receiver

Earlier this week, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman said that the team had a complicated situation at wide receiver with both Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin set to become free agents next month.

While the Eagles figure out the best way to sort through the complications, they’ve added another wide receiver to the roster. The team announced Friday that they have signed Joe Anderson as a free agent.

Anderson played six games for the Bears in 2013 before being placed on injured reserve in early November. He was waived/injured later in the month, leaving him free to sign with any team ahead of the March 11 opening of free agency.

Anderson had no catches in those six games and he had none in three 2013 contests, so it’s not like his arrival sends any clear signal about the team’s intentions regarding Cooper or Maclin. Anderson did have some good moments in preseason with the Bears the last two seasons, though, and was a regular on special teams before getting hurt.

I was suprised when the Bears let him go. I thought he could develop into a #3 WR at least. Wish him the best in Philly.

I always feel bad for the guys whose names do not make the headlines. At least Joe is in the NFL.. kind of.

This is a good move by the Eagles. This guy looked good in the preseason and was a player you could not help but notice on coverage units. Every team needs a few players like Joe Anderson. As a plus he is a low risk cap benefit if he actually develops into a good player.

Solid signing. Good addition to special teams and under the right coaching could be a decent WR.

It cracks me up. You self appointed judges of talent making a big deal out of a “taxi” squad member.
    Get a life.

Not sure who he is, how tall is he? Cooper filled in great with the absence of Maclin. Bigger receivers are what we need, the Bears and Jeffrey and Marshall that are huge. Be nice to get a duo like those 2 beasts.

get rid of Maclin this guys’ had too many injuries sine he came to Philly! Regrlss what peope think of Cooper on a personal level, the guy has really stepped up and proved himself an elite receiver! Not to mention, he gels perfect with Foles on the field. Go Birds!!!!!!!!!!!
