T.O. gets married, for two weeks

Terrell Owens AP

Receiver Terrell Owens, a certain Hall of Famer, presumably has given up on the NFL.  His new bride has quickly given up on him.

According to TMZ, T.O. secretly married Rachel Snider on January 23.  After only two weeks, Snider left Owens, claiming that he married her only for her money.

Snider claims that Owens used her to get a loan for a $2 million home in Sherman Oaks, California.  He did not respond to requests for comment from TMZ.

Last year, Owens said that, if an NFL team doesn’t sign him during the 2013 season, he’ll retire.  Because he hasn’t played in an NFL regular-season game since 2010, he’s only two years away from first consideration for the Hall of Fame, in a class that will include Brett Favre.

Given Owens’ career achievements, he definitely should get in on the first try.

You can love him or hate him, but I have to agree with the HOF.

When I first read this headline, I thought it was in reference to T.O.’s “cup of coffee” stint with Seattle a short while ago.

    A complete flake.

The fact that he’s broke should surprise no one.

He should be some team’s “Assistant Coach, Passing Game”; coaching the receivers and defensive backs. He was a master of the art and he knew all the offensive and defensive tricks.

Hall of Fame is so unpredictable with the handful of elitists that decide who gets in and who doesn’t. Case in point neither Parcells, Strahan, got in on the first ballot and Marvin Harrison didn’t get in at all. So even though most logical fans believe T.O is a HOF lock, him getting in on the first ballot may not be a sure bet.

T.O. the day before the wedding: “I love you baby, I wanna spend the rest of my life with you.”

T.O. the day after the wedding: “Of course we’re gonna take that honeymoon to Hawaii, but first I need your Social, a copy of your two most recent pay stubs, and your last two tax returns.”

There is NO WAY that Owens is a first ballot HOFer. HOFers are suppose to make their teams better, not single-handed destroy them … a la Owens and the Philadelphia Eagles. HOFers are typically (but not always) prized players that teams can’t afford to let go. Owens, on the other hand, was gladly let go by San Fran, Philadelphia, and Dallas before his end of career stops at Buffalo and Cincinnati. Yes, Owens has great numbers (but he did play with some very good to great QBs), but when teams feel it is addition by subtraction, then it is difficult to describe the player as a HOF lock. Not saying he won’t get in eventually, but it will take some time. In fact, between Owens and Randy Moss (and Kurt Warner for different reasons), I don’t envy the HOF voters in the next couple years. All three are very challenging cases.

  24. steelchampions says: Feb 8, 2014 1:00 PM

How unjust and ridiculous that Owens could get in on a first ballot. With big stats and a sideshow-dumpster fire career he could be cinsidered a first-ballot HOFer. Meanwhile Jerome Bettis had big stats (6th All-Time rusher) and was class through and through, but keeps getting passed over.

  29. daddyb1gdrawz says: Feb 8, 2014 1:19 PM

HOF no doubt. As for people clamoring for the Bus to get in. He will get in eventually but I do not feel he is a hall of famer. Just like I do not feel Andre Reed deserves to be in. They were both very good players but was never considered the best at their position. I would love for the Hall to reformat the criteria of making in. I would have put Ray Guy in a long time ago.

You know, I was hoping he would just go away, but T.O. has become a never-ending source of laughs due to his incredibly bad decisions. As long as he can get a little limelight, he’s happy and it fuels his ego.

If anyone has ever read up about T.O.’s upbringing and early life, you would know why he behaves the way he is. Also, not sure if it’s documented at all but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he’s a psychopath.

If you look at the mercurial nature of his career (moments of crying, and then moments of sheer arrogance), you can’t tell me this guy doesn’t have severe clinical issues and needs extreme professional help.

Abject poverty to filthy riches would mentally disrupt even the most stable man. T.O. is on the opposite end of stability.

Hey mediacowboy spare us the upbringing excuse. Read an article about Donald Driver he had every reason to be a malcontent, egotistical, loudmouth jerk like Owens but he turned out to be one of the classiest players I have seen. Everything regarding Owens has been about himself and now he is receiving his just desserts,

HOF? For what team? He damaged every team he ever played for. How on earth does that guy get into the HOF at all? And how does he get in over over:

    – Tim Brown
    – Jerome Bettis
    – Marvin Harrison
    – Kevin Greene
    – Charles Haley
    – Chris Carter
    – Steve McNair
    – etc. etc.

  61. joemcrugby says: Feb 9, 2014 2:30 PM

Given T.O.’s career achievement of tearing apart 3 franchises at the seams, he won’t get into the HOF on his first try … or his second … or his third …
