Report: Texans hire Brian Gaine

briangaine

The Dolphins’ loss has turned out to be the Texans’ gain.

Or Gaine, to be precise.

When the Dolphins fired General Manager Jeff Ireland after the end of the regular season, they interviewed assistant G.M. Brian Gaine along with other candidates for the job. Gaine didn’t wind up getting the position, which went to Dennis Hickey, and wound up leaving the Dolphins a short time later in what the team called a mutual decision.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Gaine’s search for a new job has come to an end. According to McClain, Gaine will join the Texans as director of pro scouting. The Texans shook up their front office after the season by firing director of pro personnel Brian Gardner and pro scout Kevin Murphy and Gaine’s arrival helps fill the hole created by Gardner’s departure.

McClain also reports that Daron Roberts has been hired as a scout and promoted Larry Wright to assistant pro personnel director.
