Brent Grimes wants no part of the franchise tag

Teams have a week to decide whether to use the franchise tag, and the reality is, few players want anything to do with it.

Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes is no exception, telling Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that the tag is “is not what anybody wants.”

Grimes said he hopes his agent and the Dolphins can come to a multi-year deal.

The 30-year-old cornerback had an impressive season, bouncing back from a torn Achilles which ended his run with the Falcons.

The Dolphins don’t want him to reach the market, but they also have plenty of other business to do this offseason, putting some pressure on them to do something to keep the current cap hit low.

If Miami and Grimes do not come to an agreement for a new contract you can be guaranteed he is tagged. No way Miami will let him hit the open market.

Grimes is the man. Hated to see him leave the Falcons. Such a great story of perseverance and high character, while remaining a genuinely cool guy.

Just sign him to a multi year deal and stop with the BS.

Grimes is priority #1 for us this offseason. Sign him no matter the cost.
