Sammy Watkins expected to do all drills at combine

Many projected top picks opt to do minimal work at the combine in Indianapolis and save their full workout for an on-campus pro day later in the predraft process.

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins is expected to go early in May, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that he won’t be following that blueprint. Rapoport reports that Watkins is expected to participate in all drills at the combine later this month.

Based on the explosiveness and athletic ability that Watkins showed throughout his college career, his efforts in Indy should make for a good watch. Watkins was unofficially timed with a sub-4.3 40-yard dash at Clemson last year and a repeat would likely make him one of the fastest players in this year’s draft class.

We’ve learned many times over the years not to make too much of splashy combine performances, but Watkins has already put together a body of work that makes him the favorite to be the first wide receiver off the board in the first round. If he does well in the drills, that status will only be solidified.

Yet another Percy Harvin wannabe. Only the Seahawks have the real thing. The Seahawks hosed the Vikings in that trade. Super Bowl XLVIII champions!

Clearly the class of the WRs this year. Expect immediate impact in the league.

Too bad his QB responsible for getting the rock will have to impress at the combine to get his due respect. It’s not like he hasn’t done enough at Clemson to earn respect.

Tajh Boyd is easily one of the top QBs in the draft. Watch and see.

If Sammy Watkins was a Percy Harvin wannabe he would be on IR right now.

I’d rather have Cordarrelle Patterson on his rookie deal and a 3rd and 7th than Percy. He had an impact in the SB, but he was far from the reason they won. Meatcarroll also seems to have the IQ of around 20, so this probably won’t make much sense to him.

By the way Cordarelle Patterson > Percy Harvin.

And Sammy Watkins > Percy Harvin.

Seahawks fans are too dumb to admit they got destroyed in that trade.

And Percy Harvins cap hit will hurt them by not being able to sign all the players they want.

I’m excited to watch him play in the NFL, looks like the next really good WR.

Please Lord…. Let him somehow slip to the Lions @ 10

Oakland passed on Calvin Johnson years ago, then took dhb over Crabtree. This product will likely fall right to them. If they are serious about keeping Pryor they need to give him this help

Good luck to you Sammy – you single handedly beat my Buckeyes.

Sammy is a good player but I think Mike Evans has a higher ceiling.. If Evans runs sub 4.5 I’d take him over Watkins.. Its all about winning One on One matchups in the NFL and Evans is the bigger target.

Evans can’t run routes like Watkins. Watkins goes top 5.

The Raiders need to draft this dude.

Watkins is so fast he can turn the light off and get in bed before it gets dark.
