Ebron reiterates his size/speed combo should be “illegal”

Ebron

For incoming NFL players, talking about doing “illegal” things in February is roughly as wise as an airline passenger talking about bombs while passing through security.

That hasn’t stopped North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron when talking about his skills. In an interview with NFL.com, Ebron reiterated his preseason belief that his mixture of size and speed should be “illegal.”

It should be illegal,” Ebron said with a laugh. “I’m going to continue to run around illegally.”

(Mr. Ebron, the man over there holding the small cup needs you to do something for him.)

Scouts will get a chance to view his “illegal” skills next week in Indianapolis. (And the man holding the small cup will get a chance to ask Ebron to do something for him.) The six-foot, four-inch Ebron said he’ll weigh in at 250 pounds, and Ebron scoffed at reports that he has added “significant” weight in an effort to become a better blocker.

But Ebron nevertheless says he has become a better blocker.

“I definitely got better at UNC,” Ebron said. “I had to become a better blocker if I was going to be a complete tight end.”

So far, the scouts agree. He’s viewed as the top tight end in the draft, and he could be selected in the upper half of round one.
