Guyton pokes fun at his 2009 snow-day punishment

As much of the East Coast digs out from the latest dose of winter weather, former Patriots linebacker Gary Guyton has poked a little fun at one of his misadventures from snow days gone by.

Via Twitter, Guyton has posted a photo of a car buried in the snow, with this explanation:  “I can laugh now at this.  But this was me when I was LATE FOR PRACTICE in New England.  Still got sent home.”

He’s referring to a December 2009 incident, which resulted in coach Bill Belichick sending Guyton, Randy Moss, Derrick Burgess, and Adalius Thomas home after they showed up late on a snowy New England morning.

Plenty of employers apply a no-excuses attitude, even on days when it’s impossible to know exactly how bad the roads are until actually driving on them.

So if you’ve got to be at work today and you live within the oversized snow belt, leave early and drive safely.  You can resume reading PFT when you get there, since the PFT writers all work from home.

While I am now 83, I still remember what my Father-employer once said. “If the weather is bad, leave earlier for your appointment.” Hate to say it, but it looks like Dad and Belichick had something in common.

Your father said “leave early if the weathers bad”? He sounds intelligent!

There is no excuse, NFL players work late in the morning, if you say “Well, i have to work at 5am” well, maybe Belichickians will understand.

My company is also open during the snow because of the work-from-home thing, but naming it would just be advertising.

Adalius Thomas was already a cancer in the locker room. Guyton – by association – got sent home with him.

Hasn’t changed. Brandon Spikes won’t be on the team next year cause he failed to prepare for a storm comin’.

These guys could all be Mayor of Atlanta.

Guyton an undrafted free agent and we got more out of him than Thomas.
