Incognito returns to Twitter to ask “please stop the hate”

Reuters

Richie Incognito launched a Twitter tirade against Jonathan Martin earlier this week and said Martin would be buried by the truth when NFL investigator Ted Wells’ report was released, but his account lay dormant for several hours on Friday after Wells’ report failed to do that.

There was a release from his attorney calling the report “replete with errors” and that the facts “do not support” the conclusions drawn by Wells that Incognito harassed Martin. Incognito broke his Twitter silence later on Friday afternoon, but the message was more something you’d find on a candy heart than the flames he was shooting in Martin’s direction a couple of days ago.

“Pleeeeease Stop The Hate. Happy Valentines Day :),” Incognito wrote.

If the past and the statement from his lawyer is any guide, it’s a good guess that we’ll hear more from Incognito on the matters involved in the report in the future. It’s also probably a good guess that not all of it will carry such a saccharine tone.

  1. Richie, the hate will continue until you grow up and start acting like a man and professional instead of an out-of-control meathead and insensitive goon.

  2. I don’t know what he could possibly say. After reading the report of an INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY, he has been revealed as, not only a heartless bully, but also as someone with no self control & serious self esteem issues. Perhaps he should spend less time on twitter and more time seeking some kind of mental health counseling. He really thinks he has done nothing wrong and that is just as disturbing as his actions. All I can do is wish him the best

  3. Sorry bud. It’s too late. You need therapy. It’s not you, it’s likely how you were raised and it will take years of good hard work to make a healthy shift. Good luck. You can do it.

  4. This guy is unbeleivable. I guess he’ll have plenty of time to blame everyone else for all of his problems when he’s sitting at home because no team wants this psycho.

  5. Dammit, i hate this. i am a Fins fan and been one for 31 years but damn i have seen these type of guys before. It sucks and they are nothing short of a bully. He was probably taught this by his old man and to him, this is normal. ‘Toughen up boy, you big pansy’. As much as i want to win, I honestly want none of it in Miami, get rid of them all.

  6. Sorry but I’d roll with a guy like Richie over Martin any day. I’ve dealt with both types and in my personal experience Richie types are easier to deal with. You know what to expect and how to handle them, as for Jonathon Martin types, I’m extremely careful around them as it’s hard to predict what they’re going to do which in turn keeps my cautious and on guard.

  7. His punishment should be that he has to play for the Vikings!!
Then he will know what it feels like to be bullied because of how the other teams in the North push this team around!!
    Lol

  8. Having read the full 144 pages I would say that Incognito is someone I would never want on my team.

I don’t expect an NFL locker to be a corporate environment, but I do expect my team captains and leaders to be men that their fellow teammates look up to and leave it all out on the field for.

There is a reason that the Fins O line allowed their QB to get the crap kicked out of him by the opposing D. They were too busy being frat boys to be professionals.

  9. And this all “coincidentally” went bad about the time Martin got benched?

    Yup.

    It’s all everybody else’s fault.

John Martin didn’t do anything wrong; those big, mean guys hurt lil Johnny’s feelings.

This is a stupid, pathetic, ridiculous joke.

I’m surprised Incognito hasn’t been banned for life from the league for being a big meany….

  10. The problems for Martin started with Miami drafting him early and throwing him into fire before ready. Martin was immature emotionally and physically but of course the Dolphins front office had to justify their draft pick. He played poorly and the coaches told Incognito to toughen him up and it went south from there. The real blame in this is the Dolphins front office and coaching staff.

  11. This isn’t about just Martin anymore. There were a few others harrassed and not was this racial since pouncey was involved… Now there is a guy with some questionable decision making skills himself

  12. Richie should know it’s not hate he’s receiving on Twitter, it’s just boys being boys. At least that’s a good enough of an excuse for him to explain his behavior in the locker room.

  13. Since when did the NFL become a Daytime Soap Opera?? NFL has turned into such a joke with all this drama and PC garbage. Just play the game!

This stuff never went on when Tags ran the league! Goodell is a chump, ruins everything!

  14. Incognito has always been a POS. That’s not breaking news, but I don’t consider Wells to be an “independent” third party. The league is paying him (I’d love to see how much) and the report came out exactly how I expected. No way they were going to paint Martin as a victim.

Anyone else notice Pouncey seems to be involved in all things you don’t want your teams players to be connected to?

  15. I could’ve guessed who Wells would side with from the get-go.

I still say Martin carefully planned this all out after he got benched; he was a 1st round pick and thought he was entitled to be a starter; Incognito has fought and scratched and busted his hump becoming a starter a long-time veteran.

Martin knew all he had to dio was bait an in-cautious Incognito into some politically-incorrect statements and BOOM: Martin gets an excuse for -quitting-.

Anyone who believes Martin suddenly couldn’t handle other o-linemen is being fooled by Martin too. John Martin is 6’6″/335. Who is he so “afraid” of?

And how did such a delicate flower become a first pick at OT??

  16. Poor veteran leadership was evident before richie incognito screwed up.

Remember in Hard Knock when jake long/reggie bush/karlos dansby approached Coach Philbin and tried to make a case for wife beater chad ochojohnsoncinco.

Philbin knew the poor leaders had to go… but… unfortunately for Philbin and the Dolphins…. ireland inked richie incognito’s extension before Philbin was hired.

  17. I wanna play golf with Richie.

I mean I wanna use my driver on his balls because I think I’ll get more air and a lot more distance.

  18. Good for your team on the field, way bad for your team in the locker room and in public.
Put a fork in him, he’s done. Guards are a dime a dozen these days. Some better than others but Incognito was not top echelon at guard. Maybe some desperate team signs him at veteran minimum but until them no team will touch him with a 10 ft pole. He did it to himself.

The report does not absolve Richie of racism because Pouncy was implicated. That’s absurd.

The assistant trainer of Asian descent was harassed and it was directly related to his race. To think race is not an issue, is to ignore the fact that black people can be racist. If Pouncy showed racism toward the trainer, then he must own it.

  20. Stop the hate?
You didn’t stop bashin others, why should anyone give you at sympathy. I would not stoop to your level but I hope one day you will receive yours!

Please, give it up ! These guys are soooooo ready for NFL football coming out. College is almost all pro football schemes today. He’s a second year player and ready. I won’t disagree he needed to refine his foot and blocking skills as the new hybrid DE’s are very quick. To toughen someone up through emotional harassment is ridiculous and I’ll doubt Joe Philbin knew about this, he’s not that kind of coach, believe me.

  22. Here’s the thing:
Most of us had a Ritchie Incongnito in our schools growing up.

I know him though I have never met him. I know him because he is the exact mold guys who unabashedly made life a living hell for those who could not fight back.

We have all seen that guy in our lives.
We have all hated that guy with a rare fire that scars hearts.

Ritchie, you want the hate to stop?
    Go away.
When we forget about you and do not have to hear your name or listen to you defend the undefendable, well… then we will stop.
    Go away.

  23. Shouldn’t richie be spending his time perfecting his shooting of Black people*

    * Based on richie incognito’s statements about wanting to shoot Black people.

  24. Oh the irony. Incognito is being buried by out of context quotes. Now people can’t even recognize that this is not a sincere plea to stop hating on him.

It’s pretty clear to me he is joking here, as he is in most of the supposedly offensive out of context comments between friends.

  25. stop the hate? yalk about delusional.

you are the original hate monger… that report outed you to be the most outrageous, unprofessional azz in history.

you were paid millions to build an offensive line as part of a team.

and you blew out a team member with hate and led an offensive line that was 29th or WORSE in every major category while you QB was taking the most hits and your RBs were getting the worst blocking in the ENTIRE league.

you are the poster boy for what NOT to be in the NFL

Incognito, you are the worst NFL player and team-mate in the NFL and you don’t deserve to ever be employed by the league again…..

if you want to stop the hate: look in the mirror

  26. Johnathon Martin isnt even worth making a comment about on here anymore. Its all his fault. All he had to do was say STOP, but he chose to walk out on the team.

  27. What’s the matter , Ritchie ?? The ” Truth didn’t Bury Martin ” , it buried you ?? You got caught like a kid with his hand in the cookie jar , now at ;east be man enough to “{ Man up ” to what ytou did ! Think any NFL team will touch you now ??? If anybody looks up the word ” Pathetic ” in the dictionary , they’ll find a picture of YOU !!!

  28. I love how people hear are talking trash and using hurtful words to describe there opinion of the guy using hurtful words and talking trash. Hypocrites everywhere. Not to mention Martin did the same drugs and spoke the same vitriol but somehow his was to try and kick it. I’m sure his drug use and mental health is Richies fault as well. Incognito is an idiot, no doubt but because Martin loses it he’s sympathized with? Ridiculous people, ridiculous .

  29. The real jerk is Incognito’s attorney who seems to only empower him by claiming that Wells ‘got it all wrong’ in the exhaustive report that he wrote for the league. The attorney was probably expecting a big payday from the defamation lawsuit that Incognito was planning to file against the Dolphins/ league had the report exonerated him.

  30. This is a big step forward for the NFL. It means that being a goon is not the same as being a man. Athletes don’t have to act like 7th graders with too much testosterone. The NFL is a place where the best athletes compete in sport instead of seeing who sits in the deepest gutter. Now let’s clean up the attitudes of those ‘institutions of higher learning’ that sent those morons to the NFL in the first place.

  31. Richie and Pouncey should be happy martin didn’t really snap and bring a gun to work.not like its never been done before.time to move on richie.hopefully Pouncey is next out the door.

  32. Isn`t this just like the classic bully. He can dish it out, but he sure can`t take it. Now that it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt what a contemptible jerk he is, he should just take all the crap that is coming his way like a man!

  33. For all you Incognito apologists calling Martin a baby that should have just manned up and punched Incognito, what about the assistant trainer? Should he have popped Incognito too? What about the other harassed linemen? Nobody punched RI because he and his gang of lackeys ran the locker room. If you haven’t, I urge you to read the report.

  34. Why does everything have to be so black and white? One minute we hate him, the next he’s the victim, and now we hate him again. Could there be some grey area here? Like maybe Richie and the boys were messing around and perhaps didn’t realize that it was bothering Martin so much? A lot of the situations they describe are the same types of things me and my friends would do to each other when we’re messing around. It doesn’t mean we are bullying each other, but you could take offense if you weren’t comfortable in the situation.

  35. So on Wednesday, when Incognito was ranting on Twitter, he really believed he’d be vindicated and Martin would be destroyed? He just so clueless.

  36. Excuse me chipperkelly, but did you read the comments they made about Martin`s sister? Would you be OK with them saying those things about YOUR sister? You telling me they did not realize that was hurtful and offensive? C`mon man!

  37. Awww, the poor wittle bully gets a taste of his own medicine and doesn’t like being picked on. Awwwwww.

  38. I must give my thanks to SARAH MOORE, who posted here last week comment about system she uses to earn online… I’ve got my FIRST check total of $550, pretty cool.. I am so exicted, this is the first time I actually earned something. I am going to work even harder new and I can’t wait for next week payment. You can try it for yourself. CashStoredcom

  39. Wait a minute there, have his lawyers not made it clear to him he needs to shut down Twitter and lose the computer unless he wants to play solitaire. It is obvious this has not sunk in. Happy Valentine, WTH Richie.

There are times one must lay low and this qualifies as one of them. Wait until your attorney writes your statement and stop the self sabotage.

  40. If you have ever played the game you would know that what Incognito is accused of doing happens a lot more than you think. I’m not condoning what he said or did but I think it’s being blown out of proportion. Most of his teammates, black and white, love him. That says a lot as to whether he’s a racist and a bully. I hope he gets a second chance and more importantly I hope he finds God.
He’s a heck of a football player and from what I read it seems like he’s a good teammate. With any luck he will find his place in the sun and sign with my Browns. Stop the hating!

    ————————————————-

Here’s the problem. Out of control meat heads and insensitive goons make the best O linemen.

It’s very hard to be sensitive when your job is to block a 300+lb wrecking ball coming at you all day.

  42. This guy is mucho bi-polar. One minute he’s forcing a teammate to consider suicide, the next their friends. Then he’s saying “The truth will bury you!!!” Like he’s some kind of wizard or something. Now he’s doing his best hippie impersionation. Stop the hate man! Whatever. Happy Valintines Day from your local bully!

  43. First off you gotta wonder about a guy this big (martin) calling for claims of bullying in the NFL… Who does that? It’s becoming clearer what he was trying to do if you read transcripts of the texts between them. Martin/Incognito

  44. Don’t you guys want Incognito to man up, own his actions, and quit crying about being a victim? It’s funny how bullies never hesitate to play the victim card.

So the assistant trainer, was he supposed to man-up and punch Richie? If he complained, he’d be out of a job. Using a position of power to make a defenseless person’s life miserable is the quintessential definition of bullying.

To the people who keep claiming this happens everywhere in the NFL — that isn’t even close to the truth.

You know who didn’t tolerate this stuff? Lombardi, Walsh, Seifert, Dungy. What would those guys know about football and winning other than everything!!!!

    ===================================

The problem is Incognito is well past a second chance. He was kicked off two college teams. He was only his third chance when he got drafted. Ribbing does go on in locker rooms. That said, these guys sound more immature than teammates in high school. They fined a teammate more for having “stinky dreads” than fined Pouncey for getting a subpoena. They fined guys for farts. They fined Martin 10k for not going to Las Vegas. It sounds like the inmates were running the asylum. I know when we took it too far, our coaches would tell us to knock it off. They wouldn’t send us male blow up dolls…

  46. I am very surprised at how many people are defending Incognito or making excuses for him by blaming others (his college coaches, his parents, the Dolphins staff, etc).
I see this as a distrubing trend in our society. Let’s blame the victim or make excuses for the culprit.
In spite of what some people are saying, this was a thorough investigation. Every player on the Dolphins was interviewed.
Yes, Martin seems to have mental problems, but that does not change the way he was treated by Incognito and a couple of other Dolphins.
After all is said and done, I hope Incognito never plays in the NFL again.
