Boldin, Niners haven’t started talking yet

A report recently emerged that the 49ers and receiver Anquan Boldin have commenced negotiations on a new contract.  And while we’re reluctant to contradict one of our CSN colleagues, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that no talks have happened yet between the team and the wideout who arrived last year from Baltimore for a low-round pick and a $6 million salary.

Per the source, communications are expected to commence at the Scouting Combine, where every team and every agent will be in Indianapolis at the same time, and where plenty of contract talks will occur.

The 49ers intend to prioritize Boldin, quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and coach Jim Harbaugh for new deals this year.  Boldin necessarily is the top priority, because he’s due to hit the open market.

Also due to hit the open market is the guy who recently was on the verge of changing his name to Hitner.  Veteran safety Donte Whitner becomes a free agent in three weeks, a year after the 49ers allowed Dashon Goldson to sign with the Buccaneers.

It would not surprise me if talks broke down between the Niners and Boldin and he went to Denver (Decker replacement) or New England.

Boldin will be tearin’ it up opposite Calvin next season.

Sorry but I think I’ll take my news from the local “fish hacks” who are a little closer to the team then a “source” of a New York rather tabloid outfit. I find PFT to be much more accurate at sifting through court docs and finding DUI’s then actual team scoops.

Biggest mistake in Ozzie Newsome’s tenure was not finding a way to resign him

If he’s asking for $6 mil or more per year again– walk away and don’t look back. They’ve had a nice little run together after that surprising trade, but that’s a big salary for an older guy who isn’t a game changer.

For the “fans” that think Boldin is leaving SF it’s great to dream. Sir Anquan is staying put 9ers want him and he wants to stay. Thanks Baltimore we owe ya one

The real question is does Boldin want money or a chance at another ring. There’s 5 or so teams he could go to for less money for a chance at another ring. If he was smart with his money it would be a no brainer, but I have no idea how he handled it.

You never know they may let Oldin walk…. The Whiners are going to have to take drastic measures to try and overcome the Hawk’s Dynasty…. Even then it will take them years before they will be able too.

Kiss the ring….. The current ring.

Ozzie wants Boldin to return to the original Sin City.

Not sure Denver would be able to sign Boldin if they are not able to sign Decker…
I think both are looking for roughly the same salary number.

Boldin will sign a 2 year deal. 1 more year with the Niners then he will be traded back to Baltimore for peanuts.

The reigning champions of the world welcome this news. 49ers point to Oldin’s 10 receptions or so across a span of 3 games but are too stupid to understand that literally only a single one of those was against the best corner in the game.

Donte Whitner to the Rams. Nice addition to Greg Williams soon to be top 5 defense

Boldin will be in red & gold next year. The other 31 teams can keep dreaming.

Yeah, local sources are much more reliable. I can’t imagine Anquan donning another uniform next year. He’ll retire a 49er. Hopefully he’ll have another ring to show for it.

Open the wallet SF. You need to pay up for an over the hill WR who is big enough to block for Kap.

you mean the ONLY RING, you low life loser

The Seahack trolls have the saddest form of little brother syndrome. They caw on ever Niner article wrapping themselves in their ‘one ring blankie’.

You know who else won a Super Bowl with a stellar defense? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, how many have they won since?

One ring does not a dynasty make, in fact try winning more than 3 before anointing yourselves anything other than a one year PED induced wonder.

If Whitner goes through with changing his last name to “Hitner”, then he should change his first name to “Dumbsh” while he’s at it.
