The Colts have released running back Tashard Choice and waived defensive end Jake McDonough.

The moves were disclosed in the NFL’s Tuesday transactions.

The 29-year-old Choice rushed for a combined 170 yards on 46 carries in stints with Buffalo (12 games) and Indianapolis (three games) in 2013. The Colts signed him on December 9.

Choice (5-10, 210) has rushed for 1,579 yards and 10 TDs on 372 carries in six NFL seasons.

McDonough (6-5, 280) had signed a reserve/future contract with Indianapolis in January after a short time on the club’s practice squad. An Iowa State product, the 24-year-old McDonough entered the NFL with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May 2013.

    Please explain….”released” vs. “waived”…..

They released the wrong running back…

Now they don’t have a choice.

I could be wrong, release means outright release. I think when you “waive” somebody they need to clear waivers, during which any team can grab them for the current contract.

What is the difference between waiving and releasing?

What is the difference between losing and tanking a season like Colts did in 2011?

  8. aceakking says: Feb 18, 2014 7:12 PM

Tanking is same as losing except you lose on purpose to draft a QB named Andrew Luck.

U people kill me with this tank stuff, u must be bitter afc south fans?

Do I detect a little QB envy—must be Pat fan. Yea we had Manning’s neck hurt, just so we could draft a good QB===silly you!

A lot more than just a bad neck. Colts were to owe him 28 million dollars. Colts got lucky (no pun intended) to stink for one year and get a great option. Suppose Manning quits on Denver right now. Denver picks 31 unlike Indy which picked 1st. Sometimes it pays to suck for just a year.
