Falcons issue the mother of all perfunctory statements

We use the word “perfunctory” often around here when it comes to team statements on arrested players.

The Falcons have taken it to another level.

After Roddy White was arrested this morning for failing to pay off a window-tint violation, the team issued the following remarks:

“We are aware of the incident involving Roddy White. We anticipate this will be resolved shortly and we will have no further comment at this time.”

Translated, by me, that means: “We have to say something because someone asked. But this is stupid. Please can we all move on?”

White’s “smile-for-the-camera” mugshot this morning also puts the arrest in its proper context.
