Roddy White arrested for failure to appear in court

Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was arrested early this morning, on a warrant from a previous traffic citation.

According to Mike Morris of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, White was arrested in Gwinnett County at 4:30 a.m., after a failure to appear warrant from a citation for “non-transparent material on windows.”

He was released 90 minutes later on $168 bond.

Though window-tinting arrests are typically among the most flimsy charges a cop can haul you in for, he still failed to fulfill his duty to appear. But as the smile in his mug shot indicates, it’s hardly something White seems distraught over.

Don’t tint your windows… you know it’s illegal so don’t do it. Only reason to tint them really dark is to hide what you are doing inside the car.

Update: Roddy White was nearly arrested for resisting arrest when he instinctively pushed off to gain separation from the cop.

I mean as far as off field troubles go, I’d have to say my man here is generally a sterling example of how one should conduct themselves. I’d be willing to bet he figured he’d just pay the ticket later and everything would be fine.

Sorry this happened to you bro… but can you hook me up with the guy who tinted your windows?

This is the silly arrests that I don’t understand. How do you allow this to happen if you are Roddy White.

  8. wtfchiefs says: Feb 18, 2014 8:18 AM

I guess the PD had already given out their jaywalking ticket quota so they had to get a few folks with tinted windows.

  9. saints12013 says: Feb 18, 2014 8:21 AM

So let me get this straight, he had a warrant because of a fine he got because of tinted windows ? I really don’t like Roddy cause I think he got a big mouth, but come on now, let the dude have his windows as dark as he wants. Its his privacy and after all the police are aloud to have the darkest windows possible but a regular civilian can’t ???

  10. lifeistoughtrustmeimadolphinsfan says: Feb 18, 2014 8:31 AM

He basically took last season off and he still didn’t have time for court? Come on Roddy…

  11. thedoubleentandres says: Feb 18, 2014 8:34 AM

Seems so crazy to me that a cop would pull him over for the tinted windows but then wouldnt immediately go “Wowwwww you’re Roddy White, can Iv a picture?” then quickly warn him to sort the windows out.

  12. travelingwillies says: Feb 18, 2014 8:38 AM

$168 dollar bond. Ha. Im sure he can afford it.

Seems like whenever someone gets arrested in Atlanta, it has to do with Gwinnett county

  14. travelingwillies says: Feb 18, 2014 8:41 AM

Too bad he doesn’t play for Seattle, those fans would pay all his court fees

While having tints in the front may be regarded as somewhat weak (which it usually is), its also excellent PC for cops to make a stop and hopefully get a good arrest.

Most excellent arrests made via car stops started with minor MV violations. That’s different however from just giving out tickets for tinted windows…..that in itself is pretty lame.

Maybe he pushed the cop because, you know, it works so well on opposing DB’s.

  17. realfootballfan says: Feb 18, 2014 9:10 AM

That’s a good use of taxpayer resources. Lets swoop down on the guy who had too much tint on his car windows and bring him in on this here warrant.

  18. travelingwillies says: Feb 18, 2014 9:12 AM

Nobody was better at pushing off than Jerry Rice and he admits that. The great receivers use every advantage they can get. Same goes for DBs

Need to ask Ray Lewis for advice, Roddy. He is familiar with Atlanta law

Roddy White didn’t show up? They could arrest the whole Failcant’s organization for failing to show up in 2013. Losers top to bottom.

    Typical t-hug mentality.

  23. sincejumpstreet says: Feb 18, 2014 9:30 AM

Don’t be stupid, people. The reason cops take tinted windows seriously should be obvious. In this current climate of violence, no one in their right mind wants to approach a dark window. You want to be able to see what the driver is doing with his hands.

  24. arnoldziffel says: Feb 18, 2014 9:32 AM

Arrested at 4:30 A.M.? Law enforcement officials in Atlanta do like to get an early start, don’t they?

Or was this just a late night out for Roddy?

  25. mattjay0101 says: Feb 18, 2014 9:36 AM

    Nice red squinty eyes Roddy!!!!!!!

This story reeks of a hometown help out by the local lawman.

    Classic American justice.

  26. chc4 says: Feb 18, 2014 9:39 AM

Tinted windows aren’t illegal in GA unless they are really, really dark. To get a citation they must’ve been virtually light-proof. Which is a dumb thing for anyone to do.

  27. cobrala2 says: Feb 18, 2014 9:42 AM

IDK what part of GA tpa43 lives in but I also live in GA and cops don’t arrest anybody for vehicle infractions like that. People get away with limo tint all day long. Very odd.

  28. greenmtnboy31 says: Feb 18, 2014 9:44 AM

It’s good to know all the major violent crimes have been abated so law enforcement can spend their time and resources on more serious crimes like tinted windows.

  29. fdugrad says: Feb 18, 2014 9:54 AM

@sincejumpstreet: Your excellent comment beat me to the point. Police officers literally risk their lives every time they stop a car, but ESPECIALLY when the windows are very darkly tinted. Also, as an avid bicycle rider, I am ALWAYS frightened by vehicles with tinted windows as I enter an intersection. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get eye contact with the driver in order to judge whether they see me approaching. This also applies to runners and pedestrians. Seriously dark windows are completely DANGEROUS to the general public. I have NO idea why businesses for this degree of tinting are allowed to operate.

You and your ilk are the problem. You “share the road” don’t pay ad-velor um taxes, no license to operate on the public road, no insurance and you impede traffic. You don’t belong on the road.

It’s just really stupid that a famous NFL player should have to obey the law. Geez.

  33. eagles512 says: Feb 18, 2014 10:44 AM

Dumb not to appear but they came and arrested him at 430 am? I think there’s a better way to handle this.

  36. fdugrad says: Feb 18, 2014 11:06 AM

@robrocker1959: I am not certain if you are demonstrating ROAD or ROID Rage, however your seething anger is a PERFECT example of why police officers are wary of very darkly tinted windows. Thanks for sharing the vivid example with us!

  40. saints12013 says: Feb 18, 2014 2:34 PM

It is legal to tint your window in any state. Here in Massachusetts the legal tint you can have is 35%. Anything under that is illegal. I have 26% ON my vehicle and haven’t been harassed yet (knock on wood). Anybody that gets pulled over for tint just had bad luck that day or is getting messed with by some young rookie cop who is trying to make a name for themselves.

Glad Roddy is out wandering around at 4:30 in the morning.
