Bears keep adding cornerback depth, of sorts

bears-helmet-1

With weeks before the start of unrestricted free agency (and hours before the wink-nod black market opens, with agents and teams congregating in Indianapolis), teams are working the fringes of their rosters.

And the Bears are adding depth at cornerback, whether that means anything about their plans or not.

The latest is Derricus Purdy, a former undrafted rookie from Texas Southern, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com.

The Bears have signed two other corners to futures deals this offseason, C.J. Wilson and Demontre Hurst.

One could denote that as a sign of some turnover anticipated, since Charles Tillman, Zack Bowman, Sherrick McManis and Kelvin Hayden are all slated to become unrestricted free agents.

That leaves Tim Jennings and a lot of questions, which won’t be answered for weeks and months to come.
