Michael Hill returns to Packers

The Packers lost running back Michael Hill to the Buccaneers last season when Tampa signed Hill off the Green Bay practice squad in the wake of the season-ending injury suffered by Doug Martin.

Hill was released by the Buccaneers last week, however, and he’s decided to make his way back to the Packers. His agent Harold Lewis said Hill signed with the team on Tuesday after also receiving interest from the Colts, Chargers and 49ers.

“He felt like that was home for him,” Lewis said, via Tom Silverstein the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “That’s where he wanted to be.”

Hill was on the Packers’ 53-man roster for a few weeks last season and returned one kickoff for 19 yards. He had nine carries for 23 yards to go with a pair of catches for the Bucs.

Silverstein reports former running backs coach and current quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt was unhappy to lose Hill last season, which could help him in a battle with DuJuan Harris and Johnathan Franklin for snaps behind Eddie Lacy in 2014.

A Packers practice squad RB is still better than a Vikings starting RB. The Packers are the best team in the league and get ready for years of dominance over the rest of the NFL. The Packers will have no less than 3 more Super Bowl Trophies before Aaron Rodgers retires.

He is going to have a tough time even making the final 53 in Green Bay but it does come with one distinct advantage.

If he gets cut, he will be signed by the Vikings because at that point, he’ll be an ex Packer. Doesn’t matter if he is any good, the Viking’s don’t even take that into consideration.

    Alex Van Pelt?

Now there’s an opinion I’d take seriously!

I mean, really? You’re gonna keep/play this guy over Franklin, who you drafted?

    Makes sense.

    Camp Body…

We should just load up on defense when it comes to camp bodies, draft picks, free agents – whatever.

    Load up on draft picks.

I thought it was Michael Huff for a second and got excited we signed a safety.
