Hakeem Nicks signs on with Roc Nation

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was one of the first athletes to sign on with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports and now one of his teammates has made the same move.

Hakeem Nicks tweeted that he was “proud to become part” of the agency’s stable of clients and the agency’s website has been updated to include the receiver. The move comes shortly before the start of free agency, which may mean that Nicks and Cruz remain teammates off the field even as Nicks dons a different uniform for the 2014 season.

It appears that joining up with Jay Z’s sporting arm won’t be the only way that Nicks follows Cruz’s lead. PFT has learned that he will hire CAA to handle his contract, which is what Cruz did when he signed a long-term extension with the Giants as a restricted free agent last year.

Nicks did not score a touchdown for the Giants last year as he struggled with injuries before and during a season that didn’t make an overly compelling case for a big contract in free agency this offseason. We’ll see if the change in representation helps him overcome that and land a big deal with the Giants or someone else.

Nicks looks like he is at the end of his career. I don’t know if its injuries or if he was uhappy with his contract. But, he didnt look right last year

This dude has taken a few steps back, prob similar to Greg Jennings. Not worth the big bucks though and he will be working on the cheap no matter who is representing him. No Robinson Cano type contracts here bro..

As much as we need a big WR, I hope Buffalo stays away…go draft Evans/Benjamin.

I’ll be shocked if he gets more than a 4mil a year plus incentives type of deal. That’s about the best he should get.

He’ll be another Steve Smith (not the Carolina one) when he leaves the Giants
