Chris Johnson’s future with the Titans might not be a long one, but the team’s certainly not in a hurry to share their thoughts.
“We can be as patient as we want to be,” Titans General Manager Ruston Webster said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
With the once-elite running back coming off a 1,077-yard season, and set to make $8 million next year, the idea that they might find a better use for the money seems sound. But Webster said they were still processing through the decision.
“I think you just work through the process and go through all the pieces of the puzzle, one of them being this right here, seeing what is out there at from that position,” Webster said. “And Ken [Whisenhunt] has to take some time because he has never coached Chris Johnson, so he is going through the evaluation process himself. We are not going to push it. If we did make a decision, it would be whenever we felt comfortable.”
Whisenhunt also referred to the “process,” and deferred when asked about Johnson’s future.
None of that helps make it seem like he’s going to be anything but a former Titan, perhaps soon.
