Tuck’s agent says Tuck is most “complete” defensive end on market

The Giants have a meeting scheduled with defensive end Justin Tuck’s camp in Indianapolis during the combine and his agent gave a preview of the argument that they’ll be making in favor of re-signing him before free agency opens.

Tuck’s agent Doug Hendrickson said that his client is at the top of the list of free agent defensive ends set to hit the market next month. It’s a group that includes Greg Hardy, Michael Bennett, Michael Johnson and Jared Allen, but Hendrickson says none can offer teams as much as Tuck can offer them.

“Justin is by far the most complete d-end in the class,” Hendrickson said, via Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. “He can play the 4-3, he can play the 3-4. He obviously had an incredible season last year with every stat he had with the tackles, tackles for loss, the hurries and the sacks. They were up there with the upper-echelon defensive linemen.”

Whether or not you agree with Hendrickson’s conclusion, that doesn’t sound like a sales pitch for a player who is looking to take less money just to stay where he is and Tuck has said that he’s looking forward to seeing what free agency has in store for him this year. The Giants could get in the way of that, but it may take more money than they’re willing to spend without an idea of what the rest of the league will be offering for the longtime member of their defense.
