Ziggy Ansah has shoulder surgery, expected back for season

One of the stars of last year’s Combine is spending this spring recovering.

According to Alex Marvez and Ross Jones of FOX Sports, Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah recently had shoulder surgery.

He’s expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, but that would obviously complicate his participation in the offseason program.

Ansah led all rookies last year with 8.0 sacks, and is clearly a building block for the Lions. He impressed with his ability to play the run last season after being billed as a bit of a raw prospect.

Now he just has to build on that while coming back from an injury.

Pretty impressive seeing as the guy spent most of his life with no knowledge of the sport. I hope he has a great career.

This kid is gonna be beast if ya wouldn’t call him that already. He’s just beginning to learn the game and understand how it’s played. He was really heating up before the first injury. Can’t wait to see what he develops into. His ceiling is limitless

Wish him well. You never know about surgery on a man his age.

Why do athletes wait until before the season workouts before having their surgeries? Why not immediately after the end of the season? Why don’t organizations require it? Why does media let that slide without question?
