Report: Rams to talk with Rodger Saffold’s agent at Combine

The Rams will reportedly huddle with the representative for one of their most well-regarded prospective free agents at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The club will have a meeting with the agent for offensive lineman Rodger Saffold on Saturday, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Saffold has started 44 games in four NFL seasons for St. Louis. He has experience at both tackle and guard, and he doesn’t turn 26 until June. Given his versatility, production and age, he could fit the profile of a player who may draw interest if unsigned once the new league year begins on March 11.

  1. He’s been as banged up as Danny Amendola the last couple years. When he’s on the field he’s been good. Even better after they switched him from tackle to guard, but he’s had lower body injuries, concussions, you name it. A 2 year 10 million dollar deal would be about right for him and give him a chance to prove he can stay healthy but he’ll probably get more than that from someone who is desperate for O Line help.

  2. Initially I was hoping they would let him walk because he will more than likely command a higher salary than the team can afford plus it seems like he gets injured every other game. On the flip side he is an above average versatile lineman and with Wells and Dahl probably being cap casualties re-signing him might be the smarter thing to do.

  3. I hope they can keep him but if teams look past the injuries I imagine he will gwt more than the Rams cap can handle. He is one heck of a player.

  4. Nice player when he is healthy, but with his history of concussions, and this year’s deep draft, the Rams should look elsewhere. This is his “second contract”. He will want the most he can get. No team will get a discount, not even Seattle.
