Jadeveon Clowney ready to prove himself one of the best

While Auburn defensive end Greg Robinson captured some attention by moving his large body at a high rate of speed Saturday, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney wants to do the same when he runs.

Clowney said he wants to run int he 4.4-second range when he takes the field later this week.

Of course, physical gifts have never been the question for Clowney, who measured in at 6-foot-5 1/4 and 266 pounds, with 34 1/2 arms, 10-inch hands and an 83-inch wing span.

Clowney also admitted he “probably” would have entered the draft a year ago if he had been allowed, bringing those skills to the NFL after just two years of college.

He said he hasn’t met with any teams yet at the Combine, since he only arrived last night after having trouble getting out of Charlotte last night.

Clowney said he didn’t have a response to coach Steve Spurrier’s suggestion he wasn’t a particularly hard worker, Clowney defended his worth ethic and set a high bar for himself.

“Once I get to the NFL my career is going to go up,” he said. “I want to be one of the best. I want to be one of the greatest of all time.”

His talents indicate he has the chance, if he can prove Spurrier wrong about his willingness to tap into that talent.

One of the best what…Slackers, Busts, WHAT? A dead motor is NOT easily fixed if it hasn’t been maintained for a long period of time. Can his be “jolted” to life is the question.

Khalil Mack will be a better all-around pro than Jadeveon Clowney.

The Vikings will draft Khalil Mack at 8.

The Vikings will have a top 5 defense next year with defensive mastermind Mike Zimmer at the helm.

We will be hoisting the Lombardi trophy.

You will be jealous of us.

I will laugh in your face.

When I read that he wants to be one of the “greatest of all time,” my inner voice did a Muhammed Ali impression.

Greg Robinson is an OT not a DE…

It’s a real shame that someone be blessed with all the physical gifts to be among the very best, but they lack that motor, drive, determination, whatever it is to attain greatness. Will Clowney be another Aaron Curry? I seriously doubt it. But how many Seahawks coaches were saying “I doubt it” when Curry’s motivation and work ethic were questioned in 2009, yet they took him 4th overall, much to their chagrin? No pick’s a 100% sure thing.

Poor work ethic will result in a poor NFL player.
Clowney can SAY whatever he wants but smart GMs won’t listen to his BS and go off of tape. The kid takes tons of plays off.
IMO he reeks of Vernon Gholston.

Wait til he gets paid. Another fat Albert in the making.

He can suceed in Houston opposite of Watt. He will have someone to hold him accountable and since the defense is already good he will have the drive until he feels he needs to be paid more. Texans would be dumb to pass him up.

Clowney is the wildcard in this draft. Hou, Jax & Clev are taking Qb’s. St Louis will prob take an OT. Clowney could fall to Oakland and be another in a long line for Raider busts..

You prove yourself on the field not at the combine…

Hope he’s not another Jawalarus Russell. Be prepared to work hard, young man

Clowney saying the right things with scouts and GMs at the combine but he will likely play in the NFL like he did in college.

Make some great plays at times and then disappear for a while.
