Jadeveon Clowney ready to prove himself one of the best

Clowney

While Auburn defensive end Greg Robinson captured some attention by moving his large body at a high rate of speed Saturday, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney wants to do the same when he runs.

Clowney said he wants to run int he 4.4-second range when he takes the field later this week.

Of course, physical gifts have never been the question for Clowney, who measured in at 6-foot-5 1/4 and 266 pounds, with 34 1/2 arms, 10-inch hands and an 83-inch wing span.

Clowney also admitted he “probably” would have entered the draft a year ago if he had been allowed, bringing those skills to the NFL after just two years of college.

He said he hasn’t met with any teams yet at the Combine, since he only arrived last night after having trouble getting out of Charlotte last night.

Clowney said he didn’t have a response to coach Steve Spurrier’s suggestion he wasn’t a particularly hard worker, Clowney defended his worth ethic and set a high bar for himself.

“Once I get to the NFL my career is going to go up,” he said. “I want to be one of the best. I want to be one of the greatest of all time.’'

His talents indicate he has the chance, if he can prove Spurrier wrong about his willingness to tap into that talent.
