Saints and Zach Strief have “mutual interest” in a deal

Since free agents can’t “legally” talk to “other teams” before the start of free agency, most of them settle for the next best thing.

“Talking to” the “team they’re already on.”

That’s apparently what’s happening with the Saints and right tackle Zach Strief. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, the two sides met while in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine and there’s “mutual interest” in a deal.

The 30-year-old Strief is a solid part, and the Saints would probably like to keep him.

But as evidenced by their purge of veteran defensive players recently, they’re not going to be big players in free agency, so he might get a better deal elsewhere.

And I’d be OK with him leaving. Saints could find comparable play if not an upgrade from someone else.

Come to green bay, we haven’t had a running game since Kennedy was president.

Strief is one of the top right tackles in the game. Good player. But spending anything more than 3.5 million a year on him would be crazy talk.

Strief a good player? Lol. He is serviceable at best. Dude can’t block a speed rush to save his life. Decent in the run game. We really should upgrade the rt position in the draft. He is the weakest link on that line. Armstead looked legit in the final games. Strief almowt got drew killed numerous times. Good? Not even close. Seviceable? Maybe.

It would be a huge mistake if the saints let Strief go. He was second team all pro and only aloud 3 sacks on the year. Solid player and veteran. they need to resign him.
