Since free agents can’t “legally” talk to “other teams” before the start of free agency, most of them settle for the next best thing.
“Talking to” the “team they’re already on.”
That’s apparently what’s happening with the Saints and right tackle Zach Strief. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, the two sides met while in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine and there’s “mutual interest” in a deal.
The 30-year-old Strief is a solid part, and the Saints would probably like to keep him.
But as evidenced by their purge of veteran defensive players recently, they’re not going to be big players in free agency, so he might get a better deal elsewhere.
