The Saints traded for Parys Haralson because of an emergency shortage at his position last preseason, but they’re thinking about keeping him around.

According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, the Saints have had some preliminary discussions about bringing the veteran outside linebacker back next year.

The 30-year-old came in and started eight games, but suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the playoffs against the Eagles. He’s expected to be healthy and ready for spring conditioning workouts.

The Saints made a move for him last year when their own outside linebackers were dropping like flies with injuries. Bringing Haralson back alongside Victor Butler and Junior Galette would give them a solid rotation for a defense which surprised last year.
