Jason Kelce expected to get an extension in Philly too

The Eagles are reportedly closing in on a deal that will keep wide receiver Riley Cooper in town a while longer and they locked up left tackle Jason Peters through 2018 on Wednesday.

It appears they’re just getting warmed up. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is expected to sign a one-year deal with the team as he comes off a torn ACL and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that an extension with center Jason Kelce could be announced as early as Thursday.

General Manager Howie Roseman was asked about the possibility of a Kelce extension during a press conference announcing Peters’ deal and said nothing specific while leaving a pretty good feeling that there’s something in the works.

“Without getting into any specifics, [Kelce’s] a guy we drafted, a guy we think very highly of and we talked about it in the offseason, a guy the really kind of fits that culture and the chemistry,” Roseman said.

Like Peters, Kelce has one year left on his deal. If Kelce’s extension runs at least two seasons, it would also ensure every member of last year’s starting line is signed through at least the 2016 season.
