Report: Eagles close to new deal with Riley Cooper

Cooper has been fined by the team for making a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert that was caught on video, leading him to say he’s “ashamed and disgusted” with himself. As Florio mentioned earlier in the day, the early reports of the Eagles preferring Jeremy Maclin to Riley Cooper didn’t quite add up. And it wasn’t even close.

That’s evidenced by the fact that Cooper is close to a new deal with the team.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the team is close to a new deal with Cooper, which could be finalized and announced within days.

McLane also reports the team is expected to sign Maclin to a one-year deal, allowing himself to prove his worth after tearing his ACL last July.

That’s an impressive few days work for the Eagles if it all happens, after locking left tackle Jason Peters up to a long-term extension today.
