An offense that proved capable of winning a Super Bowl in 2012 for the Baltimore Ravens regressed significantly last season.
Baltimore ranked 29th in total offense averaged just 20 points per game. Thought the Ravens threw the ball the eighth-most of any team in the league, they still averaged just 224.4 yards per game through the air.
The offense has to improve for the Ravens next season and wide receiver Torrey Smith has a suggestion as to what the team could use to further than endeavor.
Per the team’s official website, Smith says the Ravens need a receiver that can “move-the-chains.”
“That’s probably someone that we need on a consistent basis,” Smith said "“Another weapon like that is just another person that Joe [Flacco] can rely on.”
One of the options the Ravens had relied on in 2012 was tight end Dennis Pitta. However, an injury limited Pitta to just four games last year and he’s set to be a free agent next month, though a deal on an extension is apparently getting close.
Even if Pitta returns, the Ravens likely could use more weapons offensively. Smith is still the only truly consistent option in their receiving corps, though Marlon Brown had a strong rookie season as well. Brandon Stokley and Jacoby Jones are both unrestricted free agents.
