The 2014 preseason will begin on Sunday, August 3 when the Bills meet the Giants in the Hall of Fame Game.

The NFL announced the two participants in the annual preseason kickoff today. The matchup makes sense, as longtime Bills wide receiver Andre Reed and longtime Giants defensive end Michael Strahan are among the members of the 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

Reed, Strahan, Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Walter Jones and Aeneas Williams will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 2.

The Hall of Fame Game kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, and will air on NBC.

By game time, Bills will be out of playoff contention.

As a die hard Falcons fan living just outside of Canton, I was really hoping the Falcons would be playing in it.

HOF is actually a fun weekend. The transportation is a nightmare but if you cut out early to beat the crowd to the busses to the off-site parking lots, it is a fun time.

Scott Norwood will be Mapquest-ing his way there and end up a couple blocks to the east.

The loser bowl? Clearly the NFL has given up hope for ratings in preseason games. Why else choose 2 lowly teams?

    NY’s only team GO BILLS!!!!

This will mark the first and only time the Bills will be part of the game of the week.

Only team to not win a superbowl you mean? Go hawks!

  16. dirtysoufsavage says: Feb 27, 2014 1:57 PM

Hall of Fame game should be the Pro Bowl. Players will be fired up. Super Bowl players will be able to play. Go five deep on the depth chart and nobody has to play a full quarter and risk injury. Two teams won’t have to play five preseason games while the rest play four. Make it happen!

  17. ctgiant says: Feb 27, 2014 2:00 PM

YEAH, two super bowl wins in 6 years ain’t to bad!
Giants held onto players way to long, I admire what the Seahawks have done as an organization, maybe Reese & Coughlin will learn something.

Cannot wait to see Khalil Mack and Sammy Watkins make their pro debuts in this game

  19. MasMacho says: Feb 27, 2014 2:11 PM

They should call it “Giant Bills” and see if either Congress or the University of Oregon shows up to play.

Season ticket holder since ’93. Made that 1000 mile round-trip journey many, many times. Won’t be making it this year. Not for those two teams. Might be time to finally give up my 4 seats.

What a Dud match. Oh well I never watch preseason games anyway, unless my team is playing. I like to see how the Steelers are playing.

  24. schmitty2 says: Feb 27, 2014 2:22 PM

Here’s how the game will go down

play 1- Andre Brown rushes for 3 yards
play 2- Manning throws a pick

play 1- Spiller long td run

This will be followed up with numerous 3 and outs with each team kicking a fg.

    Final score-Buffalo -10 Giants- 3

  29. salmen76 says: Feb 27, 2014 4:43 PM

Good idea. And call it the ‘Scrub Bowl’! Ha Ha. The Hall of Fame game should be between the two teams that lost their championship games the previous season. Yea, i know its a good idea. I deserve my own show! Geaux Saints!

  30. arwiv says: Feb 27, 2014 4:44 PM

Wow…Ginats have their first losing season (barely at 7-9) in a decade and suddenly they’re one of the worst teams in the league. You guys have some short memories.

  31. puntonfirstdown says: Feb 27, 2014 4:46 PM

Has anyone ever watched a Hall of Fame game all the way through? I mean, really?

  32. kev86 says: Feb 27, 2014 4:49 PM

Some fans are jealous of the Giants rich history and recent super bowl wins against the Patriots.

  33. kev86 says: Feb 27, 2014 6:24 PM

Will be nice to see Strahan and Reed there. All pros and all class.
