Report: Incognito vandalized his own car with a bat

Getty Images

This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps. Or something.

In the latest oddball turn in an already strange story, the latest report on Richie Incognito’s vandalized Ferrari is that he was the one doing the vandalizing.

According to TMZ (via the Palm Beach Post), Incognito told the Scottsdale Police Department that he was the one who smashed his car with a bat in a fit of rage.

We haven’t heard much from the (almost certainly) former Dolphins guard, since his brief tirade after the Wells report.

Obviously, he needed to cool down.

Or maybe Dolphins coaches just wanted him to toughen the car up a bit.

I so mad when I saw this sorry story about this head case Incognito. I immediately ran out to my beloved bomb, a 1971 AMC Pacer and waxed it. Alas…Nobody noticed.
INCOGNITO. After football back to janitorial duties and true recognition. Now grab a mop and take your anger out on a dirty floor.

  30. upperdecker19 says: Feb 27, 2014 1:03 PM

I see a reality TV series coming, The Life & Times of Whacked Out Ritchie.

Where else is he going to get a job. I mean can you see any company hiring him outside of football.

  37. norseyapper says: Feb 27, 2014 1:11 PM

Now that’s just dumb. Go buy an 86 Nova for $300 and beat the crap out of it. Leave the Ferrari alone!

WOW!!! And I thought I missed football. I guess this was his homage to baseball… Play Ball!!

  39. negativten says: Feb 27, 2014 1:13 PM

  40. 5to46hawkfan says: Feb 27, 2014 1:16 PM

Richie, I was kinda pullin for ya… But now I just think you need some help bro… Some psyche meds might do you some good, sincerely.

  41. buffalodiehard says: Feb 27, 2014 1:16 PM

The car alarm was going off during this whole thing. Why is Richie being punished when clearly the Ferrari was being offensive too?

  42. athwartships says: Feb 27, 2014 1:18 PM

It makes a little sense to do this now…..later when he is unemployed and the Ferrari is reposessed, the headline of him beating his Civic won’t be as fascinating.

  43. v2787 says: Feb 27, 2014 1:21 PM

Think ol’ Richie may have some anger management issues?

  44. whiteknightblackheart says: Feb 27, 2014 1:21 PM

  45. shaggytoodle says: Feb 27, 2014 1:26 PM

That seems like a poor way to invest money, he will probably be one of those guys we hear being bankrupt in a couple of years.

  50. eagleswinitall says: Feb 27, 2014 1:35 PM

Incognito is so confused, he thought they were like brothers.

  51. mogogo1 says: Feb 27, 2014 1:36 PM

Bizarre. So where did the original report come from about it being vandalized if he freely admits he did it himself?

  52. uglydingo says: Feb 27, 2014 1:37 PM

This guy could blow his brains out. He actually needs professional help.
    Hope I’m wrong.

  53. aedmonds2014 says: Feb 27, 2014 1:38 PM

the other cars in the neighborhood have shown support for Incognito.

  54. vikefan284296 says: Feb 27, 2014 1:41 PM

This reminds me of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when Cameron beats the crap out of his dad’s car.

  55. hanifmiller says: Feb 27, 2014 1:42 PM

Smashing an expensive car with a bat is always a good idea.

  56. bonniebengal says: Feb 27, 2014 1:45 PM

This guy is obviously messed up and needs help. Whether it is mental health issues, drugs, alcohol, or something else, someone needs to step in and help him instead of continually making excuses for him.

  57. 1rockyracoon says: Feb 27, 2014 1:47 PM

As he was hitting his car with a bat his mechanic was off on the side making Italian jokes.

  58. terumiarai says: Feb 27, 2014 1:50 PM

He saw it in the neighborhood and thought it was the Bieber’s car.

  62. 1964bclions says: Feb 27, 2014 2:03 PM

Love to see the repair bill.

A USED… Not new.. USED.. Ferrari Tail/Break Reverse light – will cost you about $5oo bucks.

  63. twoandablue says: Feb 27, 2014 2:05 PM

Remember when he was interviewed by Jay Glazer and insisted he wasn’t a meathead?

  64. metitometin says: Feb 27, 2014 2:05 PM

There goes any chance Incognito had of an NFL career.

I really feel more and more for Jonathan Martin and what he had to put up with, dealing with this psycho meathead of a human being. And how bad do the Dolphins look letting this psychopath terrorize the locker room for the better part of a year or two? Did the Dolphins really think this sort of crazy behavior would be good for team camaraderie? What a joke.

  65. fardquark says: Feb 27, 2014 2:09 PM

This guy needs to sit down in a room with rubber walls and be interviewed by Gary Busey

  68. kabasaman says: Feb 27, 2014 2:17 PM

We did this at a bachelor party once, but we used a sledge hammer…. I think it was a vw rabbit. Who in their right mind would do it with a ball bat when there are so many better implements of destruction?……..

  69. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Feb 27, 2014 2:25 PM

It’s not vandalism if you do it to yourself. It’s a fit of rage. More impulsive and less calculating.

  70. bengalsfan20 says: Feb 27, 2014 2:49 PM

Shocker, it also won’t be a shocker when we hear he’s broke in 5 years.

  71. natepalmer1 says: Feb 27, 2014 2:49 PM

Tantrum throwing, immature child…Plus he’s a millionaire…When his brain finally catches up with the rest of him, he will wish these days never happened…

  72. abninf says: Feb 27, 2014 2:50 PM

Now that is a freaking football player. That’s what I’m talking about. I want him on my team.

  73. 23rdusernameused says: Feb 27, 2014 2:57 PM

has anyone ever accused this guy of being, you know, smart?
Didn’t think so… carry on Richie, you DOOF!

  74. johnnyhambone says: Feb 27, 2014 3:19 PM

As Steven Seagal would say : Anybody seen Ritchie? huh, I’m going to keep on coming back until someone remembers seeing Ritchie.

  75. jgedgar70 says: Feb 27, 2014 3:22 PM

What, did this guy just finish watching the “Dallas” TV movie where J.R. faked his own death to get back into Ewing Oil?

It is time to put him in the room with striped sunlight, padded walls and no corners. And don’t forget the sleeveless sweater.

  76. samoanjungle says: Feb 27, 2014 3:23 PM

Wonder if that will show on the Car-Fax?

  77. davidrome13 says: Feb 27, 2014 3:32 PM

Now wait a minute. You guys are always jumping to conclusions. There is a logical explanation….. He was just trying to smash a bug on his car and it kept moving.

  78. kerzondax says: Feb 27, 2014 3:45 PM

    He’s a Goddamn psycho.

  83. shaggytoodle says: Feb 27, 2014 4:05 PM

There is probably more to the story, maybe God told him to do it, because he’s going to be a Seahawk.

  84. 8oneanddones says: Feb 27, 2014 4:08 PM

This reminds me of Barret Robbins’ career path. I hope it doesn’t end up that way for Richie.

  85. whysomanylosers says: Feb 27, 2014 4:23 PM

Can you blame the guy? He is unemployed from the NFL so he thought he would try some MLB spring training…

    `Cognito knows baseball

  86. tindeaux says: Feb 27, 2014 4:32 PM

he was just showing how remorseful he is concerning the bully case.

  87. upperdecker19 says: Feb 27, 2014 4:35 PM

If using a wooden bat = misdemeanor
    If using aluminum = felony

  88. vontazemebro says: Feb 27, 2014 4:38 PM

Incognito T shirts nearby. You know he went out to wipe off the car and knowing nothing about detailing (especially top tier cars!) scratched it up and got pissed hence the bat.

Went inside to lay down, the neighbors noticed, and called police.

  89. citiciti says: Feb 27, 2014 4:41 PM

    Love this guy.

  90. qdog112 says: Feb 27, 2014 4:49 PM

Just a matter of time before he blames the NFL for his psychotic behavior.

  91. coachbeck says: Feb 27, 2014 5:42 PM

You can’t vandalize your own property. Vandalism is when you damage property that belongs to someone else. Who cares if he damages his stuff ?

If that’s the case then I vandalized several personal items in my life.

  92. brend0 says: Feb 27, 2014 5:45 PM

    Wants attention

  93. bigdaddy44 says: Feb 27, 2014 5:55 PM

Richie Incognito, the gift that keeps on giving. You just can’t make this stuff up.

  94. savior72 says: Feb 27, 2014 6:12 PM

Dude, you take a bat to a Honda, not a Ferrari.

  95. yate3097 says: Feb 27, 2014 6:24 PM

Hey look guys! … It’s Richie – and he’s driving the BATMOBILE!!

  99. jrcoop says: Feb 27, 2014 8:41 PM

Appears he had just got off the phone with his agent. Besides, he was wanting that carbon fiber hood and grill for a while anyway.

  100. djscottyb says: Feb 27, 2014 11:31 PM

    Stupid Richie…
Coming home drunk from the strip club,
he mistakes his car for a “Martin” and beats the hell out of it!!!

  101. billsboy88 says: Feb 27, 2014 11:32 PM

Gee, I always pegged him as such a kind, level-headed person.

What do you think it’s like living every day with a guy that can lose it to the point where he takes a bat to his own Ferrari? A clearly mentally unstable and inherently angry person with a strong propensity for violence that you have to work closely with every day and can’t escape even after work and can’t look to any of your coworkers for support because he scares them too

  102. foreigncarnut says: Mar 4, 2014 11:53 PM

He kept missing the ball and went to see if the bat could hit something bigger so he could be sure that bad didn’t have a hole in it.
