Reports that made re-signing wide receiver Jeremy Maclin a higher priority for the Eagles than retaining Riley Cooper may not have been correct, but the team does want to bring Maclin back to the team in 2014.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, an announcement of a deal that will make that happen isn’t about to follow on the heels of announcements of extensions for Cooper, tackle Jason Peters and center Jason Kelce. Per Schefter, the Eagles and the wideout continue to talk about a new contract but that they are not close on a deal right now.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer also reports that there are “hurdles to be cleared” before the two sides can come to agreement on a deal. One of them may be the length of the contract. With Maclin coming off of a torn ACL, there has been speculation that a one-year deal is in the cards as Maclin tries to prove himself worthy of a longer and/or more lucrative deal come 2015.

Whatever the stumbling blocks, McLane reports a deal is still expected to be done before free agency gets underway on March 11.
