NHL gets the snow globe game the NFL was hoping for

Hockey AP

Nearly four weeks ago, the NFL was hoping for just enough snow to make the Super Bowl look great on TV but not so much that it created major problems getting to and from MetLife Stadium.

Tonight, the NHL is getting at Soldier Field what the NFL was hoping for.  And then some.

In latest installment of the NHL’s Stadium Series, the Blackhawks are hosting the Penguins in Chicago.  The snow is falling, and it looks great on the HD broadcast being served up by our friends at NBC.

After one period, the home team leads, 1-0.

So dial up your local NBC affiliate and tune in.  There’s plenty of hockey left, and the snow keeps falling.

For those on the East Coast, enjoy it while it’s still not in the East Coast.  Right after you get home from your mandatory winter-storm-is-coming-so-we-must-buy-all-the-bread-and-milk run.

Its a good thing the NFL didn’t get the snow they wanted.

After playing his most of his career in a dome, Manning would have stunk it up in the elements.

Hockey is supposed to be a winter sport, but the rare time that these guys from Saskatchewan actually play outside they make it sound like a trip to the South Pole. On foot and wearing shorts and a T shirt. Meanwhile all the football players from Florida and California have to do it all the time and get ripped if they even put gloves or a cap on.

Thegreatgabbart, football is a winter sport as well. If it wasnt, they wouldn’t have it from September through February….

Jimw81- While I am a huge hockey fan, I think it needs to be pointed out that the NHL has cancelled games due to weather in the past. I think there was a Sabres game cancelled a few years ago.

It was a great game Mike….and I viewed some of it today on the DVR and it looked as cool on TV as it did at the game.

NBA – Fake flopping, extending the traveling rules, bunch of whining Nancys.
MLB – Let me know how exciting a pitching matchup is compared to someone getting checked into the boards.
