The Eagles have re-signed exclusive-rights free agent defensive end Cedric Thornton to a one-year contract, the club said Monday.

The 25-year-old Thornton started all 16 games for the Eagles in 2013, notching 60 tackles (48 solo).

Thornton (6-4, 309) played collegiately at Southern Arkansas, earning an invitation to the 2011 Senior Bowl. Though he went undrafted, the Eagles signed him as a free agent, and he spent most of his rookie season on Philadelphia’s practice squad. In 2012, he worked his way into the defensive line rotation, notching 27 tackles as a reserve.

Thornton is eligible for restricted free agency next offseason.
