Pat McAfee announces he’s staying with the Colts

Pat McAfee AP

The Colts are open for business, and everyone is eligible for a deal.

This morning, they’ve retained their punter, as Pat McAfee announced on the NFL Network he had agreed to a new five-year deal with the team.

Apparently, it’s a little early in the morning for Jim Irsay to be up and tweeting.

McAfee would have been an unrestricted free agent, and gets the security he was looking for a year after being franchise-tagged by the Colts.

This dude has been outstanding on NFL AM this week. My favorite line, when Clinton Portis was discussing his vacation where he went swimming with sharks: “I thought only white people did that.”. Hilarious.

Smart move, the easiest decision they had this offseason (Well, maybe not as easy a decision as letting DHB walk).

I don’t think the Colts are prepared to give him the green light on the “Triple Threat” just yet (Punt / Kickoff / FG) but once Adam retires he may.

Pat is hilarious. Waiting to see the details of the deal however before I get too excited.

This guy is a fan favorite, you should have seen all the people on Twitter tweeting Pat their Pat McAfee jerseys on Christmas morning, it was awesome.

Good to see Grigson finally over paying for one of his own players.

Not sure if re-signing Mac or releasing Satele has resulted in a higher thumbs-up/thumbs-down ratio, but both are probably higher than I’ve ever seen before. Two smart moves with high approval ratings. Hey… here’s a thought: Can McAfee snap the ball? We know he can hit.

This guy is funny on NFL network. He would be a great replacement for Eric Davis who has to be the most boring person on earth.
