Jets plan to make an offer to Jon Asamoah

Teams can begin negotiating with free agents at noon today. By 12:01, Chiefs guard Jon Asamoah may be on the phone with the Jets.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets will make a play for Asamoah.

The Chiefs drafted Asamoah out of Illinois in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft, and he’s spent his whole NFL career in Kansas City. Last year he played in 14 games, starting nine. Asamoah is a good pass blocker who would give the Jets an upgrade over Willie Colon, who started all 16 games at right guard for the Jets last season. Colon is a free agent and is recovering from a torn biceps tendon suffered in Week 17, so it’s unknown whether he’ll be back.

Asamoah is No. 61 on our Free Agent Hot 100.

John Idzik is doing a very good job so far. The NY Jets are building a foundation with talent for depth and they will add on more depth in the draft. This is the exact blueprint the Seattle Seahawks followed and I have to give Woody credit where credit is due he comes under a lot of criticism but he knew something the entire league didn’t know when it came to hiring Idzik and Rex has to be thrilled.

Go get ‘em Idzik. You win games in the trenches.

Re-sign Howard too and not only is the d-line is set for years to come but the o-line is set for 2-3 years as well.

Idzik is good. Smart guy. I fully expect him to kick the tires on Golden Tate as well.

As a Giants fan, I hope you do sign him so we don’t! Way too unimpressed to throw big money at someone so unproven.

From Chiefs fans everywhere: You can have this under achiever. Hope you over pay for him too.

Eh, I’m a little worried about this. I won’t profess to know too much about Jon Asamoah, but I just read where he lost his starting job to Geoff Schwartz last year. Now maybe Schwartz is Randall McDaniel Jr, but that alone gets me a little worried about spending a lot of money on Asamoah.

Rex just loves Asamoah’s agility and foot speed.

As an added perk, Joe Namath offered to kiss him if he signs with the Jets!!!

Stick with Willie Colon he brought leadership and toughness to the O Line

He is a below average Guard and lost his job to Geoff Schwartz. However, to make the Jets Fans feel good… he is an upgrade over the “Turnstyle” formerly known as Willie Colon.

First Jeff Cumbersome and now Jon Asamoah. This is like Christmas in March! No way the Jets don’t go to the Super Bowl this year.

JETS had a tough couple of years but Tannenbaum’s mistakes are being progressively corrected. JETS are now flying high. Rex Ryan has a decent GM who doesn’t overpay. We’re talking Super Bowl.

Idzik brought in Geno. Guess you gotta wait to see if that was a smart move.

    Gotta love these Jets haters.
ANY statement of opinion or fact is met here with their thumbs down, or should I say with their orange-stained from Chitos thumbs?
