After talking pay cut, Giants to release center David Baas

The Giants are serious about a new look on offense, and they’re going to create it from the inside out.

According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, the Giants will cut center David Baas, taking an oft-injured big number off the books.

Baas, who was their big free agent signing three years ago, missed most of last year with knee and hip problems. Coupled with his $8.225 million cap number, it made it an easy call for the Giants.

Along with the retirement of David Diehl, the Giants figure to have a much different look up front.

There was some talk about a pay cut for Baas, but they’ve also been connected with Saints free agent Brian de la Puente

    its the right move

id be happy if they keep booth and make him the center. hes been doing it rather well for years and id like to think he would cost a good amount less than La Puente from the saints

about time. this guy was a disaster of a signing, at least other guys Reese has overpaid for made an impact (Canty, Rolle), Baas has been awful, even when ‘healthy’. I’d rather them plug in Boothe or sign somebody.

This guy was average at best when we signed him, and it all went down hill from there

The giants can have “the drivekiller” De La Puente and his 2 false starts a game.

He was dead weight. Jerry Reese has drafted well (more so in the beginning of his tenure than as of late), but he has been pretty bad when it comes to signing FA’s. Baas was never good for this team & the Giants’ running game has gotten worse each year since he got here. I’m glad he’s gone.

Oh no. A front running 49er fan from the 80s said my HOF QB won’t win a 3rd ring.

Please hurt my feelings some more.

I’ll see you in Canton Ms. Cleo.
