Patriots waive T.J. Moe, six other players

Patriots Giants Football AP

On the final day of the 2013 league year, the Patriots waived seven players.

The club announced Monday it had parted ways with defensive tackle Cory Grissom, running back Sam McGuffie, wide receiver T.J. Moe and linebacker Taylor Reed.

The club also waived offensive tackle Elvis Fisher (failed physical), running back Quentin Hines (failed physical) and offensive tackle Brice Schwab, the NFL disclosed in its Monday transactions.

All seven players are undrafted free agents who entered the league last spring.

Fisher, Grissom, Hines, Moe and Schwab spent the 2013 regular season on the Patriots’ injured reserve list. McGuffie and Reed had been signed to reserve/future contracts earlier in the offseason.

Moe was a productive wide receiver at Missouri, catching 188 passes in his collegiate career.

Pats waived the crew members goodbye and pushed the flimsy dinghy out into the perilous ocean waves…

Unbelievable. The window is definitely closed for Brady now.

TJ Moe? The guy who was destined to be a superstar because he was undersized and white and had a Patriots jersey? Waived? Color me shocked.

All seven players would immediately be the best at their respective positions on the Vikings.

How can you be a “huge” Pats fan and not know who they signed as free agents last year?

Pats are the cheapest club in the nfl.

    1. The Pats have spent to or near the salary cap every year since Kraft bought the team.

    2. Kraft is the only owner to privately finance his own stadium (though I believe Jerry Jones partially financed his) and did not extort hundreds of millions from the taxpayers.

So no, not only are the Pats not the cheapest team in the NFL, they are one of the highest spending teams.

    No Mo Moe :(

actually this kid should get a shot in a camp this year – and could find his way back to New England a la Troy Brown who was cut as an 8th rounder

He’s essentially a rookie who wasn’t healthy long enough to show what he could do. For now Belichick wants the extended roster spot he took up
