Austin Howard is hitting the market

It took the Jets a long, long time to find a competent right tackle.  Now that they have one, he could be walking away.

Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have been unable to work out a deal with Howard.  He’ll be hitting the market at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Mehta reports that other teams already have reached out to Howard.  Which begs the question — why didn’t they do it on Saturday?

Howard, who arrived as a street free agent in 2011, started 16 games each of the last two seasons.

COME ON JETS !!!!! You developed this kid from the Ravens practice squad. Don’t let him go now that he is very good player.

That’s the Jets for you. They are throwing their hat in the ring to be the worse team in the NFL for 2014.

Very serviceable right tackle who is young. Reminds me of K. Mckenzie. Plug him in and play. If the jets lose him it will hurt

Clearing money for Vick…another year older and better than Geno, that is sad!
