Golden Tate says things are heating up

With one of Seattle’s top free agents signed and sealed to stay with the Seahawks, another one could have a deal soon.

Receiver Golden Tate says on Twitter that that “[t]hings are starting to heat up.”

He doesn’t specify whether that means with the Seahawks or someone else.  As to defensive end Michael Bennett, the Seahawks got serious once another suitor was seriously pursuing the player.

The No. 26 player on the PFT Free Agent Hot 100, Tate entered the league as a second-round pick of the 2010 draft.  He had a career high 898 receiving yards in 2013, on a career-high 64 catches.  Tate also returned 51 punts, generating an average of 11.5 yards per return.

Tate can sign with the Seahawks at any time.  As of 4:00 p.m. ET Tuesday, he can sign with anyone else.

$20 says he ends up with the Ravens.

I think he’s talking about his blunt or what it feels like to be shot up with HGH.

    Stay. Let’s get another ring

  4. vikingsftw says: Mar 11, 2014 2:28 AM

Golden Tate ends up in Turd Bay because everyone knows they play the best clown music in the business during practices (I learned that here on PFT!) and Tate has more clown.mp3′s then any other NFl player out there.

Not alot of production for what he is looking for.

  6. sundaybutter says: Mar 11, 2014 2:56 AM

All this guy does is make big plays both as a WR and PR.

  7. fantom21 says: Mar 11, 2014 3:19 AM

Or maybe he’s hinting a move to a warmer climate.

  8. dazzlehasselhoff says: Mar 11, 2014 3:21 AM

Speaking of the Vikings, good luck even placing third in the NFC North this year.

  9. acmepackers says: Mar 11, 2014 3:35 AM

He deserves to go to Cleveland or the Jets for being at the center of that Fail Mary play. And then having the seeds to say he caught it

  10. slammincamnewton says: Mar 11, 2014 4:41 AM

well carolina needs more receivers than there are free agents available.

  11. bennyb82 says: Mar 11, 2014 4:58 AM

    going home to Nashville?

  13. drgreenstreak says: Mar 11, 2014 5:30 AM

Tate is an average number two receiver. Maybe.

A team would be (probably will be) foolish to give this a long-term, big money deal.

Golden Tate really hasn’t proven much yet in the NFL but maybe the bling of the SB ring will suck-in the Raiders. Or the Bills.

  14. ravensbob says: Mar 11, 2014 6:32 AM

Just keep him out of the off duty donut shops.

  15. whatjusthapped says: Mar 11, 2014 6:48 AM

Or is Tate referring to the deep fryer in the donut shop he just broke into?

Heating up? Only Seattle can make an offer, still…….His agent must be getting calls about interest from other teams. Looking forward to the next few days to shake out who is going to be playing for whom……

Good Luck Seahawks in getting retention and picking up the players you need to continue to be a force in the NFC…….

    Go Hawks!

  18. DonKellyBaby says: Mar 11, 2014 7:44 AM

He would be an excellent fit across from Megatron!

    He’s not very good.

  20. ancienthawkfan says: Mar 11, 2014 8:36 AM

Pittsburgh – you certainly haven’t watched him play much if at all. His numbers aren’t eye popping, unless you look at catches/targets or YAC or perhaps return yardage, or blocking all in which he is excellent. Yeah he doesn’t even have 1000 yards, but the Hawks throw 30 times a game – there are only so many catches to make. By all means, I hope everyone sees it your way so Seattle keeps him at a reasonable price, but put him in NE and he might pop for WW numbers. Just saying…

  23. usdcoyotesfan says: Mar 11, 2014 8:55 AM

You pushed off and didn’t catch the ball against the Packers.

  24. coolherc says: Mar 11, 2014 8:57 AM

Is it possible for the Vikings franchise to sign with the CFL as a free agent? If not maybe they can be traded to get either the Hamilton or Saskatchewan franchises in return. Would certainly be an improvement.

  25. marshawnsgrillz says: Mar 11, 2014 9:08 AM

    come on back Tate

  26. vikingdomination says: Mar 11, 2014 9:09 AM

Seahawks are going to need him. Percy will be injured by week 3.

  27. manilarizzo says: Mar 11, 2014 9:26 AM

Redskins. They see him in the slot and as the desperately needed returner. Nice compliment to Garçon and Reed.

    No. 26!? Way too high.

  29. osiris33 says: Mar 11, 2014 9:41 AM

All he does is make big plays.

That’s what he DOES. THAT’S ALL HE DOES!

  30. chargrz says: Mar 11, 2014 9:50 AM

    Just another receiver.

  31. rufusporter says: Mar 11, 2014 10:07 AM

Seahawks should sign Tate and Steve Smith and put them on the field with Harvin and Doug Baldwin to form the meanest crew of 5’10″ receivers to ever take the field.

  32. budklosterman says: Mar 11, 2014 10:15 AM

Tate is a solid number 2 option. He makes big plays, but he also disappears in games. I think he is worth 4 million a season, but I wouldn’t pay him more than that!

  33. giahead33 says: Mar 11, 2014 10:27 AM

    Overrated…..period

Yes, we know MD Jennings caught it, we’ve seen the video and still shots a thousand times. And we are over MD Jennings, he sucks and will be signing with the Vikings later today.

  35. chrisk61 says: Mar 11, 2014 10:35 AM

this guy isn’t worth the money. seatt should let him walk. doug baldwin is a very good WR for seatt. and percy harvin should come back healthy. fact of the matter is, with the beast marshawn lynch providing such a strong running, and a very capable qb in russell wilson distributing the ball, seatt shouldn’t vastly overpay for receivers.

  36. stoogy says: Mar 11, 2014 10:37 AM

What I have always said, and I can’t believe more haven’t said, is why did MDJ try to play hero and catch the ball instead of just batting it down? There would have been no catch/no catch; touchdown/no touchdown call to make had he done his freaking job and batted it down. Having said that – Go Hawks!!

  39. praetorian12 says: Mar 11, 2014 10:58 AM

Please continue to call the Seahawks receivers average, pedestrian, appetizers. They will keep calling themselves world champions.

  40. oreo51 says: Mar 11, 2014 11:07 AM

All he does is catch everything thrown his way. The Hawks will keep him. Bennett set the tone by taking a little less than top money to stay in Seattle. Tate will do the same. Why go to Oakland when you can compete for another SB ring in Seattle.

  41. jokeydee says: Mar 11, 2014 12:12 PM

This guy is only worth something in Seattle. He will go to another team and fade into the backround… I promise that is what will happen. These number 2 style receivers that are the #1 on their current team should really consider that instead of playing with themselves on Madden and thinking they are awesome… Hell is graded rookie auto contenders card is available for $80… that says it all! Hahahaha

  42. flushbush says: Mar 11, 2014 12:49 PM

Packer fans still talking about two years ago…hilarious. Take lessons from us on how to beat whiners, maybe you’ll be able to move on with your football lives. Pathetic.

  43. juliusanonymous says: Mar 11, 2014 12:58 PM

All these haters trying to dull that shine on Tate’s Superbowl ring. He can’t hear you over that bling bling.

Golden Tate is a beast. Loves to reach out and touch someone, or the earhole on their helmet. Good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite. Golden Then he just steps on into the endzone and gives you that bye-bye wave and a smile.

Packer fans still pouting. Aren’t you all so cute? As if the annual pounding you take from the Niners didn’t negate all your whining and crying. We coulda stamped a ticket to the NFCCG for the Packers, just put em in the game, and they would have been destroyed by either team – the Seahawks OR the Niners. It’d be like putting Pee Wee Herman into general population at San Quentin Penitentiary. Prognosis: Poor. You’d be lucky to escape with your lives.

Although I must admit it feels WONDERFUL laughing at these Packer fans on my way down to see the 2014 Lombardi at Seahawks HQ.

  44. National Fanatic says: Mar 11, 2014 1:22 PM

He’s a firey #2 WR that can return punts. He should go to a team that has a true #1. I think he’ll get 4 years, $18 million, $9 million guaranteed…

  45. claymus1 says: Mar 11, 2014 1:29 PM

Smart Kid… He’ll resign with the Hawks. Plenty bright enough to know which side his bread is buttered on.

  46. swaggyy says: Mar 11, 2014 2:45 PM

    Showtime Tate

  47. ppusta says: Mar 11, 2014 6:13 PM

Opposite Megatron is too good for him to pass up. He will be the best number two receiver in Detroit than any other team.

    ————————————————–
Because in the Lions-Titans game the previous day, a receiver caught a ball that was batted down on a Hail Mary, so Jennings was probably ready to catch it.
