Ravens hang onto Jacoby Jones for four more years

The Ravens continue an impressive offseason of hanging onto their own.

The team just announced they had agreed to a new four-year contract with wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

That follows extensions with tight end Dennis Pitta and left tackle Eugene Monroe, as they attempt to improve their offense with a new coordinator.

He had visited the Giants Wednesday, but was on his way back to Baltimore to sign the deal.

His return ability alone makes him worth keeping, but he lends a deep element to the passing game that is needed, especially with a run game that struggled the way Baltimore’s did a year ago.

“I think Demba (Denver’s) gonna win” in my Jacoby voice, cant hear a word he says but he is the Ravens most dynamic weapon, that is indeed sad when Flacco is getting overpaid. And yes Flacco is inconsistent and sucks.

He should have won Super Bowl MVP over Flacco. Go rewatch the highlights, Jones was absurd in that game.

He should call up SweatPea to celebrate.

Hes a soild #3 with amazing return value. Ravens need to fix the #1 WR isseue. Tory Smith is great but he needs help. Edelman or Decker would be a fantastic fit. That is if Baltimore has any cash left.

Iwas hoping he would sign with his hometown team, and the place where he scored 2 TDs in the Super Bowl, The New Orleans Saints since we raised him.

    Yea, JJ stays.

And in response the new Steeler safety, whats his name, asked to go back to Carolina.

You mean, Jones to carry Flacco for four more years.

  17. dickjagger says: Mar 12, 2014 4:23 PM

Great news! Look at all these teams overpaying and trying to buy a Super Bowl (HI DENVER) where the Ravens resign their own at a good value.

Great Team! Great GM! Great Coaches! Great Players! Great Fans! GRRRRREEEAAT!

Hey haters, while our front office is working, what is your team’s GM doing? GO RAVENS!!!

  20. southpaw2k says: Mar 12, 2014 4:25 PM

This time last year, the Ravens concentrated on rebuilding their defense. Now, they’re working on rebuilding their offense. Gosh, it’s almost like Ozzie and Co. had a plan and a series of steps on how to achieve that plan.

    Go figure.

Only Ravens fans would toot their horn this much about signing a return man that also is their 3rd receiver. Geesh!!

As Giants fan, would have liked to have had him. Hope he enjoyed the visit/tour. Good luck back in Baltimore. Newsome and Reese are no joke!

  27. maninbrown says: Mar 12, 2014 5:00 PM

Good :D I don’t think he’s that great of an option at WR (save for the Denver game). With his speed I’d like to see more reverses and to keep him for returns. I guess he and Gary Kubiak patched up their issues.

Joe Flacco would humbly disagree with you. He would be nothing without Jones. Just getting to the playoffs that year would’ve been impossible without Jones bailing out Flacco with his kick returns. Same thing with winning the Super Bowl. No Jones, no playoffs, no Super Bowl MVP, no becoming the most overpaid player of all time.
