The Titans have added a defensive lineman with the ability to play multiple spots upfront.
According to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean, Tennessee has reached a deal with Steelers nose tackle/defensive end Al Woods.
Woods, 26, can play defensive end or nose tackle in the 3-4, the defensive scheme the Steelers have long employed and the front the Titans could use with new coordinator Ray Horton. The 6-foot-4, 307-pound LSU product spent the better part of three seasons with Pittsburgh, appearing in 28 games and making two starts. Woods notched 16 tackles and recorded two sacks in 2013 for the Steelers.
According to Wyatt, Woods was slated to visit Arizona and Green Bay — two teams that employ “30" fronts. However, the Titans appear to have closed the deal with Woods, who could be ticketed for a bigger role in Tennessee than he had in Pittsburgh.
