Brandon Browner to visit Redskins

The Redskins are a set to host a former Pro Bowl cornerback on a free agent visit.

Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner is scheduled to meet with the Redskins on Thursday night, PFT’s Mike Florio reports.

The 6-foot-4, 221-pound Browner has started 36 regular season games in the last three seasons for Seattle, intercepting 10 passes. He played and started eight games for Seattle in 2013, but he was suspended for the final five games of the season under the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. He will miss the first four regular season games of 2014 and will be fined another four game checks to end the suspension, which was related to missed drug tests.

Still, Browner ranks as one of the better cornerbacks left in free agency, and he would give Washington a bigger corner to match up with tall and physical receivers such as the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant.

I love Browner but am nervous about the next suspension, which could be for a year…

He would obviously be a HUGE upgrade over what they have now, but don’t offer the farm with all the risk involved…

Worth checking out. Offer a contract that protects the team if Browner is suspended again.

If the price isn’t very high, then he’s an upgrade over what we have now!!

Brandon, you don’t want to go to a team with an offensive name.

Apparently, none of you Redskins fans saw him play last year. Good guy, but he’s lost a step and commits a ton of penalties. All of our backups played better than he did in his absence. And if he was worth being picked up, don’t you think Gus Bradley would have done that by now?

BB is one helluva strong corner. The only step I saw him lose last year, was when he pulled a groin muscle. With him you’d get a fierce competitor, who doesn’t take prisoners. As for the drugs thing, forget it. Most of that is hearsay from the media. I wish that the Hawks could’ve kept him.

What happened to Walter Thurmond? Isn’t he still on the docket to visit the Redskins tomorrow? I would prefer him over Browner.
